Good afternoon. Now that it looks like the mountains are getting snow and the resorts should all be opening this weekend, can anyone give me some advice on where to take my 4 year old daughter to learn to ski? We live 30 minutes from Grindelwald, but since I haven't skied them in a while, what would be the best resort for kids and beginners? Anyone have any experience with this areas resorts? Thanks so much.

I work as a ski instructor in Grindelwald, and we never have any problem finding terrain suitable for beginners. There's 3+ ski areas, and Maennlichen has 2 small slopes perfect for teaching a newbie on the top of the mountain, so usually with a good level of snow.

A friend of mine went to Engelberg and said although it was open, the conditions were terrible.

I think on the whole although most resorts in Berner Oberland are opening this weekend, the ski conditions won't be great for another few weeks, and a four year old will enjoy learning to ski much more in optimum conditions.

And not just a four year old. We had four friends planning to come down to Engelberg this weekend for three days of beginner lessons, but had to advise them that the slopes that are open really aren't suitable. We've rearranged for a couple of weeks time, by which point I'm hopeful that at least the Gerschnialp, and hopefully Klostermatte beginners areas will be open.

I'm also hoping that this storm blows itself out before tomorrow, so we can find some decent powder to ski

Anywhere at all with decent looking blue slopes this weekend?

I'm happy to travel a bit for OK conditions, but am still fairly novice. Small resorts are fine too.
