Etape 2012/Triathlon/Winter Training

Hi,

I've not long moved to Switzerland and as such am still finding my feet, so I'd appreciate any help here.

I've entered the Etape du Tour 2012 and am also planning to do some more triathlons in '12 as I really enjoyed my first last year.

To that end, I've started running/swimming and am on my bike rollers in my garage to help train for all of this and I'm frankly after some company and inspiration!

So I'm on for swimming and/or running partners to train with. Or maybe setting up a bike rollers session? Open to suggestions.

I live over in Oberrieden (near Thalwil) and work in Opfikon, so I'm open to lunch/post work stuff to burn off the calories and get fit.

And please fear not. I'm far from Mr Fitness, though I'm all on for pushing for 2012!!

Comments and help welcome!

Hiya,

Just a couple of thoughts here.

CrossFit Zürich are just in your area: Cherstrasse 6, 8152 Glattbrugg

Also, Jeff at Hillseeker Fitness is down the road from you at Richterswil. He is an experienced endurance trainer and organizes a group of keen cyclists too.

Finally, we have a bunch of dedicated runners and climbers that hang out under the Zürich Outdoors Nuts moniker on Facebook. Just check out the page to see if anything is going on, most are in your area too.

Good luck and let us know how you get on.

Re: Etape 2012/Triathlon/Winter Training

Thanks very much Assassin. I've checked out CrossFit and Hillseeker Fitness and I'm planning to kick off with the latter in Jan.

That twinned with lunch swim/runs should be good start!

Obviously, mountains of Chrimbo food to get through first, just to make the challenge a little harder in Jan.....eeek!!

I'll also fire up the olde facebook and see what's occouring there.

Thanks again.

Re: Etape 2012/Triathlon/Winter Training

Thalwil is on my commute home (ish....I'm Zurich <-> Unterageri). It's biking only for me, and I'm 8kg over race weight, so my fitness is very VERY poor.

However, more than welcome to join you as my fitness improves.

Warning: as a former trackie, my forte is normally sprinting and flat power not climbing; something I will need to adapti suspect, now I'm in CH.

Re: Etape 2012/Triathlon/Winter Training

Thanks all for the responses, offers and advice. Apols for only coming back now, but Christmas travelling meant I've only logged back on.

Looking to go to Hillseekers this week. With my commute (Oberrieden to Opfikon), the roads are getting a bit silly at times and to be honest, it's fooking freezing early doors, so I'm mainly catching the train and doing the swim/run thing at lunch, with rollers in the evening. Hoping to play it by ear and get out on the bike at the weekends.

Thanks all again!
