Skiing around Zurich

Hi all

Can anyone recommend some ski resorts that are easy to get to via train from Zurich.

I am an average skiier and ski mostly reds and would not want to spend more that 1.5 to 2 hours on the train from Zurich HB.

I am planning mostly day trips so the resort would not have to be huge or anything.

Thanks

http://www.j2ski.com/ski_resorts/Airports/Zurich.html

Website lists ski resorts by time from ZH. The times are for driving but it's a great guide and you can check the actual train times on the SBB website.

It also helps to show you the resorts which you'd never go to on a holiday from the UK or wherever because of size and altitude, but which are loads of fun for a day or two or if you can check there's snow.

Have fun!

RobM, any ideas where I should go as a snowboard beginner? Are there any easy slopes close to Zug or Zurich? Something that is very wide and nearly flat would do

Flumserberg. S2 drives to Unterterzen in the Weekend, and the lift up to the resort is directly next to the Station.

Another option is Braunwald. Take the Glarner Sprinter train to Linth, and the Braunwaldbahn up to the village. Equally easy accessible, but smaller than Flumserberg, and less red slopes.

There is also Elm. Take the Glarner Sprinter to Schwandt, and get on the bus there (20-30 min) and you can enjoy the Slopes in Elm. Not as big as Flumserberg, and less crowded.

If you live in Zug, the closest is prrobably Mythenregion, but almost all Lifts there are T-bars. You can access Mythenregion from Brunni, Handgruobi or Ibergeregg, not sure whats easiest to reach from Zug.

Sattel/Hochstöckli may be closer, but have never been there.

Stoos may also be easy to reach for you, but i would not call that beginner friendly.
