Nordic/crosscountry ski evenings in NE

I'm going to spend at least two evenings of this week with my skis. I'm starting about 7:30pm from Neuchatel and drive to Savagnier or La Brevine. Return about 10pm.
If someone wants to join, you are welcome - I have up to 4 free places in my car.

Re: Nordic/crosscountry ski evenings in NE

OK, so it's decided (at least for me).
I started tomorrow, about 7pm from Neuchatel.
I'm waiting for the confirmation from Kristanez (2 people), but I will go anyway.

The plan is to drive to Les Bugnenets - Savagnières (forgive me the misspelling in the previous post) and then ski along GTN to La Clochette,
Quatre Bornes or even Derièrre-Pertuis (the turning point will depend on the conditions of the snow and the skier(s)) and back via Creux-Joly to the parking place.

The map is here:
http://www.skidefond.ch/images/carto...ntagnesNE3.pdf
(look at the right upper corner)

The route is not lit - headlights are _very_ useful. A thermal flask with hot tea too.

Odile, don't exaggerate - I assume approximately 10-15km in 2-3h - this slower than normal walking speed.

This time classical/BC - I still don't have skating gears.

Re: Nordic/crosscountry ski evenings in NE

It's done - started too late so only ~7km - turn at La Clochette.
The conditions were ... "not perfect" - the track was firstly a bit wet and then, about 21:30, a bit icy (thanks gods for the metal edges on my skis). All the time a light rain/snow, transforming into a heavy fog.

But the height profile of my route was perfect - start at ~ 1130, turn after 3.5 km at ~ 1230 - not too hart to climb up and not too fast to go down (way back was ideal for skate like step, even win my 220cm long skis)

Hope, next time I will make the loop via Quatre Bornes.

They do a very good fondue at "Le Bec à l'Oiseau" at Derrière-Pertuis if you get that far (easier from Vue des Alpes than from Les Bugnenets although the distance is probably greater). It's like eating in someone's living room.

Probably not... the time I went there we were there from about 8 pm till midnight having walked (with snowshoes) from La Vue des Alpes, but we had booked in advance. The walk back after lots of fondue, wine and kirsch was epic...

But what about Saturday - the day can a bit crowded, but evening should be better

Re: Nordic/crosscountry ski evenings in NE

The loop:
Les Bugnenets - Creux Joly - Quatre Bornes - La Clochette - Les Bugnenets
has been just done. About 9.5km, about 2 hours.

Temperature was ok, except these windy moments when my jacket was becoming an icy armour

The conditions where excellent: coudless sky with 0.7 shining moon, frosty white trees and discrete sounds of animals from the forest .
Because of the moon, the headlamp was not necessary this time - definitively I must plan a full moon walk.

Re: Nordic/crosscountry ski evenings in NE

This week we will have full moon.
I'm going to have at least one full moon ski walk. I suggest Monday and/or Wednesday and/or Friday.
I'm quite elastic wit the date now, but the sooner we decide, the more probably we'll have no clouds.
Any volunteer to join?

Re: Nordic/crosscountry ski evenings in NE

So ... tonight again Les Bugnenets - I've had the best snow this season, and the lowest temperature I've ever recorded skiing: -20.
Surprisingly, it was subjectively warmer than last Friday, maybe because there was no wind.
Anyway, I reached avg speed 7.7 km/h without any special efforts. And the shining Moon was as always incredible.

At Friday night I will probably try La Vue-des-Alpes.
