| | | Gyms in and around Lausanne
Dear EF'ers,
I am new to the area, and am looking for recommendations on good gyms. I am currently working at EPFL, however the one gym they have that I have come across is extremely small, and limited in terms of what I am looking for. Before I moved out here (from the US) it was relatively easy for me to find gyms either affiliated with a university, or independent that had plenty of exercise equiptment, free weights, and either a track to run on, or eliptical. When it gets warmer, I expect to do more running outside, but that is beside the point.
Any recommendations for in and around the Lausanne area?
Thanks in advance,

Depending on your situation (student or not) you may have full access to the University of Lausanne's facilities next door. They are first class.
If not the case, the Malley shopping center (Malley metro station then walk up the hill) has a Migros gym which apparently isn't bad at all.

Hi!
I went to play squash here ( http://www.green-club.ch/) last week and the facilities looked great! Definitely worth having a look. Don't know about costings and such though.
Good luck!

Noth --
I may have seen this. The one area I have been going to I think is somewhere between UNIL, and EPFL. What I have found is a large court which I think is used for basketball, gymnastics, soccer, volleyball, etc. Overlooking the court is a few weight machines, and like two old crappy ellipticals. I really feel like there must be some other, better place. Is there a second gym that I am missing somewhere? Either way, which is the one your thinking of, where is it, etc. Thanks for the Malley tip. I may try and check this out some time in the next day or so.
Cheers,

Hi Nicola, I am also lookign for gyms in lausanne, I've been told LetsGo (100chf pm) in Lausanne Flon and Homesplace (120 CHF pm) nearby are the best but I'm also looking for more advice.
Please let me know if you hear of any others.

monthly, it depends. my husbands job allows us a slight discount but i would say about 85 chfs per month. it is on rue de valentin, just up from la riponne. take the number 1 bus direction blecherette, get off at druey college and walk down the hill just a bit. it is right there. i'm happy with them.

I've just this minute come back from a workout at Holmes Place in Lausanne.
I've been a member there for about 3 years and am really happy with it.
It's very clean and well organized and I enjoy the various classes offered.
I've been in London for 3 weeks and really enjoyed getting back to 'work' this morning. Several of the staff came to say they'd missed seeing me, which made me feel I'm not totally invisible.
I've tried several other places over many years, but prefer Holmes Place.
I'm old though, so can't answer from a youngster's viewpoint, but the smiling faces make me believe they're happy too.

Would you mind telling me how much you pay per month, I heard Holmes place was around 120 CHF pm?
