Re: Gyms in Zurich

Anybody here who can recommend me a good personal trainer at Westside Fitness (Fitness1) at Escher-Wyssplatz? I've been going there for a while now and would like some new exercices and a bit of professional guidance.

Fitness Centre near Zurich HB / SihlCity

Fitness Freaks,
Can anybody suggest a fitness centre near Zurich HB or SihlCity where in I can have a trainer ? I used to do gym earlier, although after having a back injury I had to give it up. Now that I want to start it again, therefore not sure about which exercise(s) will suit me.

Any help would be highly appreciated.

HolmesPlace fitness centre in Zurich HB

Hi All,
Today I visited HolmesPlace, the one which is near Zurich HB (Top floor of Jelmoli ). The place seems to be a bit crowded. Nevertheless, people were helpful and cordial.

Anyone wants to share any experience ?

Re: HolmesPlace fitness centre in Zurich HB

My wife is a member there and it has been in a slow decline (service from staff and a bit more run down) for years, it is the cash cow for other Holmes place gyms. There are probably better options available and (cheap) parking is non existant close by. Like all gyms the best is the one closest to you (work or home) , if you want to make the most of your membership.

Re: HolmesPlace fitness centre in Zurich HB

Was good whilst I was a member. Also great for mothers with kids as their krippe was useful. However fell totally out of love with the place when trying to cancel my membership, manager was very unhelpful and I had to go through an administrative nightmare, so be warned!!

Re: HolmesPlace fitness centre in Zurich HB

Agree with the previous two post.

Good at the start but has drastically declined recently - Huge Cash Cow...

Forget going during the peak times (unless you're happy to wait 15-20min to get on your equipment), you just wont get the most out of your membership.

The sales guy also did a damn good job on me when I joined and stuffed me for a two year membership, telling me I could cancel after the first year if I wanted, by giving three months notice (my fault for not reading the contracts t&c's - lesson learnt). The two years are now coming to an end and I'm glad to be seeing the back of this place.

Their are a load of other places in Zurich which are less crowded, equally equipped and a lot cheaper.

But if you do decide to go, I would be more than happy to sell you my 'Holmes Place' branded pad lock for the locker room...

Good luck,
APx

Re: Fitness Centre near Zurich HB / SihlCity

Near HB you have a Sihloutte on Langstrasse that is pretty good and quiet as well. There is the McFit in HB but I wouldn't bother as it is always packed and hot in the summertime. AsiaSpa at SihlCity is supposed to be great, though I think pricey.

Re: Fitness Centre near Zurich HB / SihlCity

Hello,

I am looking for agym with a lot of classes and in which people look like they enjoy themselves ; ie they talk, shout, smile (and dress well as a bonus).

Does it exist? I have tried the Luxor Club near work, I thought I attended a burial.

AsiaSpa is a nice spa. The emphasis is on wellness. The gym floor might not satisfy hardcore fitness enthusiasts.

Re: Gyms in Zurich

I visited the Holmes Place yesterday, for a possible membership. I have been to the ASVZ last year, but their gyms are wayyyy tooo crowded and not well designed. There is hardly any ventilation in the cardio room. Their poor facilities made me quit the gym altogether!
I am looking for a gym that is similar to the north american gyms. Holmes place seems nice but too crowded for the expensive price! I also do not find it honest that they do not have their membership rates online.
Does any body know for example how much is the Silhouette gym at Bellevue? They have no price information either.

Thanks for your feedback.

Recommend a gym in Zurich???

Hi,

Ihave just moved to Zurich and was wondering if anyone could recommend a gym to me. I will initially be based in the Bassersdorf area but dont mind travelling if the gym is a good one.

Infor on pricing would be good too. Im thinking of maybe up to 100CHF/month? Not sure if thats enough round these parts!

Only looking for basic fitness stuff, weights and cardio etc, but if there happens to be a pool included that would be good too!

Im not looking to do tenns or squash/badmington etc

Thanks in advance!

Now that the weather is changing I am looking for a gym in the Regensdorf / Affoltern area! Unfortunatly I can not afford paying around 30chf each time I want to go and will only be around for another 3 months... So im really looking for somewhere with a cheep monthly or day price.

Re: Gyms in Zurich

Migros Fitnesspark has several locations (Regensdorf, Zürich 2x, Zug, Luzern), a very good standard of equipment and services, as well as reasonable price.
