Though these reports are always "optimistic", that's more snow than there was in January this year! And it's supposed to keep snowing today and tomorrow.

Re: How often will you go skiing or snowboarding?

i have checked it meanwhile and im going. the wetaherforcast says that friday is cloudy but sunny, so i hope saturday and sunday is on too. 780chf for a season ticket is a fair and reasonable price. what do guys you think? who will be bombing down the slopes this WE and where?

Re: How often will you go skiing or snowboarding?

I'm considering flumserberg on friday and probably laax on sunday.

Early season is always dodgy weather-wise so in the style of a typical bloke, I'm not committing to anything.

Damn! I can't wait to do some serious snowboarding for my first winter season in Switzerland! I'll probably hit Davos and Laax often.
How is Flumserberg?

Flumserberg is the most underrated piste in my opinion.

Its fantastic for snowboarding, long... wide runs that are just powder carving bliss.

Re: How often will you go skiing or snowboarding?

Flumserberg is not hugely exciting, but pretty close to Zurich and convenient by train (is the direct train running again this winter? anyone know?) and it's popular with ex-pats for learning. A lot of us cut our teeth there, some more literally :-)

If you're keen on Davos & Flims/Laax, you should check out buying a Top Card. You break even if you do about 17 days boarding (correct at time of calculating) and given the queues for tickets that you get in davos at the weekends, its also worth an extra half hour on the slopes.

Some info here http://www.davosklosters.ch/Service/...cmbD1lbmc.html

I bought mine back in May as its cheaper the earlier you buy it.

Re: How often will you go skiing or snowboarding?

I've only been skiing one time, but now that I'm here I'm going to learn to snowboard.

A good friend of mine from the UK might be having a weeks holiday in Laax next year, my sister might be coming over for a week to Davos, and then on top of that there's the Slovenia trip that Polorise is planning and also my friend over in Bienne knows of a chalet that you can rent out as a group so I'm going to try and get some more details of that as well...

...looks like my season is filling up already, not bad for a complete novice

Re: How often will you go skiing or snowboarding?

laax for me as boarder is best.
verbier i liked and zermatt too.

im in laax 02/09-02/16
maybe 12/07-12/10

dave, how are you going to laax? by train?
are you staying overnight or something?

flumserberg is underrated. its nice, always good for a quickie.
its convenient to get there, slopes for all type of riders, not too crowded
and cheap with railnsnow. ive been there most of the time last year.

i want to check titlis, lenzerheide, davos, klosters and again st.moritz.
in st.mo' i began boarding, so i want to get an impression now that i can make use of the resort much more....

Re: How often will you go skiing or snowboarding?

It's Flumserberg for me! It's close and since this is only my third year of skiing it's challenging enough. So, this Saturday I am out there.

We're at 800 odd metres on Flumserberg and we have had more snow the last couple of days than we had all last winter. The forecast for up top is more snow today and tomorrow and then some sun from Friday for the weekend.

If anyone wants a whisky on the way down I'm going stir crazy on my own all week. I'm starting to talk to the cat!

Thinking of Hoch-Ybrig this weekend as an alternative to Flumserberg..anyone got any opinions, I have been to neither of them.
