This might be a long shot but I'm wondering if there's a women's Roller Derby League in Switzerland? I'm moving from Canada in a couple of weeks and would be interested in joining one.

Would love to give RD a spin (no pun intended), but as far as I know there are no teams in Switzerland...I guess we need to get our own league going!

I've only just started (just one practice so far) in the UK, but am already hooked! I'll be moving to Zurich for 4 months from July and wanted to keep skating. We should start something up!

I am moving back to Switzerland in July and cannot imagine life without derby, so i am keen to play in Switzerland if there is a team or to start up a team.

I am currently a Jammer with the Pirate City Rollers in New Zealand.

AFAIK there are still no RD teams in Switzerland (just out of interest, there are only 3 or 4 teams in Germany).

I guess we'll have to set up a team ourselves...c'mon ladies, who's with me?

Well, there are at least TWO active skaters in Switzerland, and we've heard from a few others.

My wife (Swiss Army Wife) and myself (Crash Test Ref) technically belong to the Stuttgart Valley Rollergirlz (SVRG) but we're trying to ground a league here in Switzerland.

We want to start a Roller Derby league (ideally based in Zurich, but flexible) and need players who want to be a part of something new and exciting in Switzerland.

We want to set up a league much like Stuttgart and many other European cities already have... www.rollergirlz.de


We're looking for girls aged 18-whatever who want to be part of a team and part of learning a new team sport with a very cool group of women. This is a fun and full contact sport that we can all learn and share experiences together. The closest league to us right now is the Stuttgart Valley Rollergirlz, and they started much like this a couple years ago.

I've never been on a team before. Is this for me? Probably... lots of girls have never been on a team until they join derby.

How is this sport different? Attitude, Teamwork, Fun. We take on new names on the track, form closesly bonded teams, wear flashy uniforms, and then we sell tickets and play in front of a crowd of hundreds of cheering spectators. Anything we make goes directly back into training expenses.

What is Roller Derby, anyways? Check out our sister league at www.rollergirlz.de or google (or youtube or wikipedia) "Roller Derby".

Does anyone REALLY play this? In July the first European tournament will be held with 12 teams in attendance. In Canada and the USA there are hundreds of teams.

What kind of people play this sport? All ages and professions and fitness levels can find a place here... Roller Derby attracts a very diverse group and binds them together like no other sport.

Is this a real sport? Are there rules? Yes and absolutely yes.

This sport looks hard! Do I need to be super fit or be a super skater? No. Just show up and we'll share skills with one another and learn and get fit together.

OMGoodness! There's derby in Switzerland?!?! Yay!!!

I've been playing here for a year, & would love to keep it up if we move.

My understanding is that Zurich is about an from Basel by tram. Is that correct?

Also, your facebook page lists Basel as one of your locations. Does this team travel?

Are you the only derby league in Switzerland?
