Accommodation near Flumserberg?

Off skiing for the first time this weekend - planning a trip to Flumserberg. Thought we might stay over one night - can anyone recommend accommodation. Doesn't have to be in Flumserberg itself, but relatively near - say 30 kilometers or so. Also not that worried about price - getting used to the idea that in Switzerland bargains are not always to be had - some looking for somewhere "nice" rather than somewhere cheap...

Re: Accommodation near Flumserberg?

youre coming from ZH and you want to stay?
as far as i can tell this place looks dead to me for an overnight stay= not much people/guests/tourists around-> no pubs or nice restaurants. and
there is only one smaller hotel or two, but hardly one ever booked it, i guess. and after 1day at flumserberg you did it. dunno if a whole weekend makes sense.

Having decided to drive early on Sunday and now having seen the place, I have to agree with you! Skiing was great (for a beginner) but Flumserberg itself, think I'll give it a miss. There and back from Zurich in a day I think is the only sensible answer. Just thought we might try and make more of a weekend of it. Thanks.

Re: Accommodation near Flumserberg?

Most of the hotels at the ski resort will be booked up at weekends, I would suggest trying hotels at Bad Ragaz if you don't mind a short drive - only about 15 miles I guess. It's a nice town with a few decent looking hotels and good restaurants and there is also the casino. Most of the other towns round here are pretty quiet in the evenings - in Flums you have the delight that is Henry's Pub and the Baghdad Palace Kebab House.

If you want something really quirky, you could try this place on Flumser Klineberg. Run by an English couple and their 8 lamas....
