Karate clubs? [Zurich area]

Does anybody know anywhere to do Karate in or near Zurich? It could be in a gym if they offer it as a class.

Any info appreciated.

Re: Karate clubs?

Im interested in Karate classes in Zug.

Can anyone recommend somewhere good??

I have found these sites so far:

http://www.karatezug.ch/

http://www.karate-zug.ch/

I would appreciate feedback especially if they have actually been there.

Also interested in perhaps some Thai Kick-Boxing, and am generally open to suggestions for other martial arts.

Re: Karate clubs?

On another note all the Karate places i can find in Zug seem to do 'Shobukan Karate'. I am not familier with this stlye of Karate nor can i find any info on Google about it. When i was younger i studied 'Shotokan Karate' for a few years. Do they mean the same thing???

Re: Karate clubs?

I doubt it, if the instructor doesnt speak English then im sure someone in the class will.

Even if no-one does, most martial arts classes are just a case of watching then copying.

Re: Karate clubs?

I'm looking for a good karate club in Basel/Reinach area. I did a form called seki-juki back in the UK 4 years ago. I have dabbled with shotokan many years ago. Any recommendations. There seem to be quite a few in the area but which one do I choose.

Re: Karate clubs?

Ok well it isn't Karate, but we have Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Kick Boxing at our gym.... David Gym is the name of the place. I just train the Brazillian Jiu Jitsu and it's great.

PM me if you want any info.

Hi Kroyman,

Apologies for picking up an old thread, but I'm interested to find out what you concluded re karate clubs. Would be interested in Shotokan. Any recommendations ?

My former boss has a dojo, it probably is a bit far from you (closer to Basel), but he speaks English and is a great guy.

Karate Dojos in Zurich

I was wondering if anyone could point me towards some dojos in Zurich.

There are some problems that need to be addressed though.

I work during the week usually till 7pm so they must do evening classes.

I don't have a car so it should be either fairly central or easily reachable by public transport. I work on Hardturmstrasse (8005) so somewhere near that would be ideal.

I would also appreciate it if people could give me prices for the places they suggest as I am not a millionaire and money is certainly an object .

While I am technically a Shotokan practitioner I will happily train in other styles, I would also prefer a dojo that does free sparring and self defence as part of their sessions.

Thanks for any help you can give.
