Does anybody know a good massage therapist in the Zürich area? There are a ton of names and places to choose from so I would appreciate some help trying to narrow it down a bit.

I am looking for somebody (male or female) who is rather strong and would do deep tissue. I have tried a couple of places in Zürich in the past 2 years, but nothing was to my tastes.

In this case I have no interest in atmosphere or hot stones, I just want to find a good person, who does a good massage and is not prohibitively expensive. Whether they speak English or not is no issue. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Have a chat to the guys at Oasis, near HBF. I go there for facials and Frau Schellenberg really does have a good strong touch. Her assistant is also quite good. I had a back massage from her and she wasn't afraid to get nice and strong.

So I would recommend a chat first-up with Frau Schellenberg to discuss what you want and see what she says. They're also very easy to get to and she does sometimes work 'till 8pm.

When I lived in Kreis 4 we had a massage parlour at the end of the street.

The were called "4 hands 1 pries" and were open pretty much 24x7. I guess they catered for frugal people who needed a massage at short notice.

I have had the same problems here in Basel. I am a massage therapist myself, trained in Boulder, Colorado. I dream of finding someone to trade with here in Basel whose training was similar to mine. By the way, we in Boulder had the opportunity to learn how to combine "body" work with "bodymind" work.

anyone who needs some deep tissue work done, don't look past her.

If it is a medical condition, consider consulting a physician first. He/she would then recommend a competent massage therapist. And your health insurance might reimburse.

Hi Darkphoenix, my girlfriend can do massages if you want to come to the affoltern am albis area (don't know where in Zurich you are). She trained a few years ago and was top of the class, she also worked for some sports centres as the resident masseuse. She is just starting up a praxis again and can fit you in in the evenings.

Her prices are VERY reasonable... 130 CHF for a 90 minute sports massage is pretty astonishing. I'm going to call her on Monday and get one before I go back to the UK for christmas.

I've been talking to Emma and she seems a very lovely and professional lady and all the reviews I've read about her have been positive. I hope I get to try a massage from her one day
