I've recently moved to Zurich and having now rented a few too many times: I'm looking to buy a pair of telemark boots. Zurich, though, seems devoid of stores selling telemark equipment.

(I've inquired at Ochsner Sport, Bächli Bergsport, Atheleticum, SportXX, . . .)

Hi, my husband is a telemarker. He says try Winterthur and Engelberg for telemark gear. There is an online shop which also has a real shop in Winterthur: www.telemarkshop.ch. It also gives info on other shops, such as the one in Engelberg.

Can vouch for the shop in winterthur for bindings at least.

Or you could take a trip to St Anton where there is a shop or Fullmoons in davos or there is always Chamonix not so far away.

I hope you've got the Livigno telemark festival in your diary 5-12 April -it's a hoot and lots of gear to test.

Are you considering the telemark norm system? - no duck bill, so better for climbing with - v. expensive if you ask me but might be worth it in the long run.

I have discovered telemarkshop.ch - I was just hoping for shop that I could get to with my "Zone 10" (City of Zurich) public-transporation pass.

Just get an extension ticket. Winterthur is only about 20 minutes away, and you're going to have to travel further afield to go skiing. It's good practice
