Ski areas near Thun

I am hoping that some of the local expats might be able to help me out here.

We are heading down to 4 Valleys from Frankfurt for a weeks snowfun in Nendaz starting from Saturday. Now to break our journey down we thought about travelling down on Friday night and stopping possibly in Thun and then skiing somewhere locally on the Saturday before heading off down to Nendaz.

Can anybody recommend somewhere nice for the day for us? We can probably be described as advanced snowboarders, big powder fans

The only reason I have chosen Thun is because of a work trip in Milan I will be getting the train from there and my boyfriend will be driving down from Frankfurt. So it looked like somewhere easy for us to stop - we could also go for Bern or anywhere on that main train route.

Does anybody have an insider tip for us? Thanks in advance.

Re: Ski areas near Thun

I have been to Adelboden recently. It was good and there should be good runs for advanced snowboaders. Though, I am neither advanced nor a snowboarder. This resort would be within 65 minutes via train/bus combo, probably less with a car.

It is a big resort, well connected, usually busy. Fairly well know as it hosts a WC event every year

Thanks for that. I had also thought about Adelboden as I have heard good things. I checked on googlemaps and it is then 100km down to Nendaz but directions said 2 hours But that is not such a big deal.

Oh yes and we'll have a car.

Re: Ski areas near Thun

Gstaad could be an option. I think there is also some sort of ski area up at Kandersteg as well.

Winter is the "dry" season for Switzerland, so there isn't really a huge amount of powder being dumped in the mountains around here. That said, the snow that's around usually stays pretty nice throughout the season.
