Hi everyone, another shim-sham ski season is melting, and I'm hoping to get out on the mountain bike soon. Is anybody interested in doing some rides anywhere in the Suisse Romande area that would be great. I've done some riding around Chalet-a-Gobet but not much else. I'm interested mainly in XC rides, preferably single track, but that seems to be a little harder to find around here. I've read some of the links that have been posted previously, but if anybody has some first hand info, or wants to explore, let me know.
I'd certainly be interested in looking for stuff beyond Chalet-a-Gobet. I had a couple of rides up there while the ground was frozen in January (because it was too cold for road-riding) and that was a lot of fun - riding through patches of snow and avoiding the ice made it much more challenging than it usually is. The other place close to Lausanne that I've found is the Venoge river. Start virtually at the lake and head upstream. There are some short sections that I consider unrideable, but also some fairly decent single-track without any significant elevation changes. If you have a good map then you may be able to string together a reasonable-length ride up the river.
I notice this thread is quite old now but is there any development on the biking front. I am relatively new to mountain biking but am keen to get into some serious rides and live not too far from Lausanne.
The Swiss velo vignette, which is required on all bicycles ridden by someone living in Switzerland, and costs 7 CHF, includes third party liability insurance. For more info, see the thread Velo Vignette: A few questions... and this post in the Cycling in Switzerland thread.
Age - absolutely interested in some mountain biking. Have just moved into Lausanne so I'm no expert but I'll start exploring this weekend. Message me if you are still interested.
