Re: Yoga classes in English

Glad this thread is still going. My former teacher in the states, Max Strom, is coming to Zurich to do a 3 day workshop at airyoga from October 23 to the 25th. The workshop will be conducted in English. If you have the time I strongly recommend you go; he is just so special as a teacher and I've had quite a few!

Hey Chardie, I live in Luzern and would like to pick up yoga again. I did Bikram back in Auckland a few years ago and loved it.

There're classes available (at least in my area Adligenswil) but all in German. Have you found any classes in english?

Hi,

I've been to Bikram Yoga in Luzern. It's my first experience of Bikram Yoga anywhere and I've been really impressed by it. Most classes are in Swiss-German, but there are 2 English classes a week. I've been to a few classes in Swiss-German, and once you've been to a few classes, you can follow easily. The instructors will help you in English if you need it.

Enjoy!

K

Re: Yoga classes in English

I started this thread a while ago and I would like to thank SwissMiss2000 for her help in finding me a yoga teacher in Solothurn.

If there are any of you wanting yoga classes in Solothurn or Aarau, then please contact my teacher, she is wonderful!

http://www.flaviayoga.com

She kindly does classes in Swiss German and English when my friends and I are around, so I'm sure if you asked nicely she would do the same for you!

I'm going back to Australia soon and I would love to bring her with me - that's how great the classes are!

Jahura in Zurich-Oerlikon
I started the English class for beginners last night, if anyone else wants to join please do as I am the only one! Private lessons are great, but it would be nice to meet some new people!

I've now started the Yoga classes at Yoga Joy in Zurich too (very central location). Relaxing and enjoyable, the teacher is lovely. I go to the English beginner classes on Tuesday mornings. Would be great to see more people coming along too!

Re: Yoga classes in English

Lemondrizzle, did you go to your class? how was it ?

Has anyone been to the Bikram yoga studio in Zurich, I wondered if they spoke English there as there web site is in German..

If anyone has been to any of the other studio's in Zurich, which do you recommend.

I've done both Bikram and Hatha yoga before but am a bit out of practice and thought that I should get back into it after I move, but it the mean time thought I would try a few place out when I come to over to visit.

Now I see the benefits of pressing quote instead of trying to remember what people of have posted !!

Sorry I thought this was a class you hadn't been to yet.

I will go and have a look at their website.

Hi there

I teach English yoga classes on Sunday at the Yoga Studio Luzern: www.yogastudio.ch. It is a beautiful studio not too far from the train station. As well, I am available for prenatal classes and private lessons. You can email me on courtney.sunday@yogastudio.ch.

Re: Yoga classes in English

I'm an authorized ashtanga yoga teacher and moved to Bern last year, hoping to start regular Ashtanga classes in English. However, it's taken a lot longer than I thought to get started (mainly due to issues such as "it is SO expensive here, I'll never be able to open my own yoga studio" and "I have to do WHAT to start as a self-employed yoga teacher??")

So, at the moment I'm offering private ashtanga classes in Bern. If you have a group of friends and have a space I'd love to offer classes. I'm hoping to start something more regular after the summer... but feel free to send me a PM anyway if you're interested in ashtanga yoga. I also visit Thun a lot so if you're there, let me know.

I'm also doing a 4-hour Introduction to Ashtanga Yoga workshop in Winterthur on Saturday 29 May - PM me if interested!

I will be moving to Solothurn but I don't mind travelling to a yoga class. And preferably Iyengar yoga but I'm not fussy so anything in English is great!

Thanks for your help....

Did you check out Lausanne Yoga Works? Duncan teaches in English usually. It is a vinyasa class, but it can be quite intense.
