commuter bike (road and paths..)

Hi all,
I am thinking in buying a hybrid bicycle (something between a road bicycle and the mountain bike). At the moment I found the Focus Arriba, for about 900-1000 CHF, but may be a little expensive for the bicycle that I am looking for…600-700 could be perfect .

Suggestions??

Do you know any store in Zurich that could have “my” bicycle?

Thank you,
Hugo.

Re: commuter bike (road and paths..)

In this price range you can either look at what Migros and other discounters are offering.

Or you can support your local bicycle shop and see which new and second hand bicycles are on sale. (I think bicycle renting shops tend to have more second hand offerings... Here's a start). Use this search to find a bicycle shop near you.

Bicycle shops are more expensive but on the bright side they often include a standard service & repair in the selling price.

Usually in April, there are special offers on bikes. Look out for ads from Migros, Jumbo, Carrefour, Conforama, etc.

Re: commuter bike (road and paths..)

Other options similar to the Focus Arriba would be the Specialized Sirrus and the Scott SUB 20 or 30, both of which are pretty decent. Check out the link in my signature for some other options on where to find used bikes.

Re: commuter bike (road and paths..)

I have a Specialized Sirrus and have been commuting for about 4 years on it. I would totally recommend it to any other commuter - this is for anyone else reading the thread as I see you have bought your bike.

It is really suited for roads but can handle a certain amount of rough stuff - I often ride fully loaded with front and rear panniers.

Good luck with the Arriba and with commuting by bike - it is well worth the effort :-)

Re: commuter bike (road and paths..)

I've been searching without any luck. Can anyone tell me where I can buy focus arriba in geneva or environs? Plus any tips on what to look out for? Or on customising?
Thanks very much.
