Yes, with a tour bike you may just have to work harder to keep up... But the good thing is that means you get an even better workout
I like the idea of varying the location -- There are
so many beautiful places to ride around here! We may want to start with just a couple locations at first though, just to work out logistics such as where to meet and preparing maps of the route (in case we have a large group with varying ride speeds and therefore split up). Then we could expand later in the season...
Also sometimes it's fun to repeat the route a few times so that you get to know it and can have some fun pushing the pace at certain spots, test your improvement, etc. (classic roadie stuff!

I will volunteer to help lead one on this side of the lake. The area above Horgen is really nice for riding and it doesn't take too much longer to get to Horgen on the train than Thalwil, but since you guys have to travel after work, just shout if you don't think it'd be possible.
