| | | Sunday Road Biking Ride (13-April) - Any takers?
Hi everyone,
I am training for Ironman Lake Placid on July 20th and wondering if anyone might want to join me for a long ride this Sunday. I am looking to do around 80 miles (or ~128km for you metric people), but I am happy to have company for ANY portion of the ride. If you want to do less, I can add on. I know the weather might not be ideal, but I was out on this past Sunday and is really wasnt that bad. Really. I live in Zurich, but will travel if you are not in Zurich.
I would like to throw some hills in the mix but I really dont have a preference for terrain. My avg pace (depending on terrain) would be around 16-17 mph (27-28 kmh).

elizabeth | | | | | OK, this thread has officially been changed to the Bikini ride. I think switzerland could use some chicks riding around in bikinis
This reminds me of the Santa Speedo run we do in Boston every December...everyone runs through town w/ red bikinis and speedos on.
So, considering it's winter out I would propose the bikini ride take place when the weather breaks, as Shaye mentioned.
regardless, I like the way you think!!

Switzerland is one of the most liberal places I know in the world when it comes to exposing skin. A visit to a lake shore on a sunny day or to the street parade will confirm this.

that's nice to hear, I was getting scared.
I was told that I have to have long pants on while working out (Active Fitness) except for cardio machines. How am I supposed to see the leg muscles at work when they are covered by long pants, I don't know. It's just uncomfortable. I don't get it. They already require a large towel which I use anyway.

sounds very strange to me. Switzerland is a land of coed unclothed saunas in some gyms (Migros Fitness Park for one)

But in fairness, I usually avoid the sauna, as I have this strange fear that I will run into colleagues and the such and that would be a bit strange.

I am a member of Migros Fitness too, and still can't make myself to do the nude co-ed sauna thing either yet!
I agree about the need to wear shorts while working out - That sounds like a strange restriction for a gym.
Sorry I can't make it this Sunday, but count me in for future bikini rides! |

Sorry to have hijacked the thread guys. I would love to join you for a bike ride, but I have to wait for my bike to get shipped over.
Next time maybe. Have fun. BTW, don't worry, I'd keep up.

I will most likely go Sunday as I need to run errands and such on Saturday.

Thanks for the post, and post your future plans again...we are trying to start a Thursday night ride in the near future, but weekend long rides of your mentioned distances are good for training for longer bike races and IMs. I will do the same.
