"sprint" and "fun" dont really go in my sentences together. I do enjoy running, and during the week I do a speed work or tempo run session, w/ total distance around 6-8 miles. If you'd like to get together sometime send me a pm - I am always looking for company. Sorry, dont really know of any track clubs in zurich but I think there must be a fairly good running community here...it might just take a bit of digging on the web. My experience w/ athletic (triathlon) clubs here is that most speak German (with websites only in german) but are welcoming of foreigners. Again, just my experience, but overall been positive.

Don't give up so easily!

I like to incorporate sprints/speed training to my runs... especially since it's a great way to bump up the effects on metabolism. Usually it's just during a run and not on a track, but every now and then a track workout would be fun. There's one in Thalwil near us that I was thinking of trying out sometime...

I like the motivation of doing things like that with someone else too. So count me in! as soon as I get the green light from my doc that my ankle is healed, hopefully soon.

Cool!
But what is wrong with your ankle? I double sprained (both sides) my ankle and apparently torn some ligaments a few years ago doing plyos (jumped from a very big wooden box and landed sideways on my ankle) and was out for about 2 months. finally I couldn't take it anymore and ran on it while it still hurt. It healed. I just iced after each track workout.
now I don't even remember which one it was.
Would you be able to come closer for a workout once in a while?

Track is a lonely sport, but it's always fun to have someone there to suffer with. Where can you run? What areas in Zurich?

Re: any track runners in Zurich?

I am in Kreis 3 in Zurich near Wiedikon. I either run mornings around 6 or 630 or in the evening....time depending when I can sneak out of work

I am running tomorrow morning if you'd like to meet up, and then probably again on mon or tues. Drop me a PM if you'd like to run sometime.

where are you in zurich?

Oh, I just had a silly skiing accident that ended with a broken ankle (you can see more here). At least I got to ride in a helicopter after it happened, which I admit was exciting.

It's been right at two months now, so I'm getting to the point to just run on it anyway too... still won't be doing sprints right away though, but hopefully not too much longer. When I do, I can travel into Zurich - it's not that far from here (could be a nice warm-up bike ride!).

when you do start sprints, you will probably be better off doing strides on grass.
I am thinking weeked run soon. keep healing!

We are in temp housing on the Dark Side, Dubendorf. I really like the track you have in Wiedikon. Great surface. I will definitely go there for workouts once a week regardless of where we will move. I will let you know, but I am thinking weekend runs on that track. Very fast surface.

Re: any track runners in Zurich?

I'll be back on the track in the next few weeks, but it'll be Geneva, round the corner from CERN to be exact. I'm aiming for a fast (for me) 10k on the road, so it'll be 6 times 800m and stuff like that.

It's tough, but it's good for you.

you are right it is tough. I think I have to get into longer repeats myself. Tomorrow it's going to be 3x1 mile with a lap or two jog for rest. I may die, but it's the only way for me to get faster. Have fun with the 800s!

Hi,

Yes I sprint, and jog at the track at Wiedikon.
I just use it when I want to, I am not sure if you have to pay or not.
Is very good though!

Re: any track runners in Zurich?

Are there any 400 meter public tracks around Oberrieden, Horgen, Thalwil? If so, can you give me a location,as I need to calibrate my ipod nike + for specific distances, hence the need for a running track. Thanks.

There is a nice track in Thalwil, right by the little ice rink - Here's a link to info on it:
