Re: Horse riding in Pratteln

I've noticed a few places to the north of Basel (around Mulhouse), but I've only a cursory interest.

Here's a few "local" places. Mulhouse is about a 20-30 minute train ride from Basel. The scale of the map looks a bit confusing, but I'd estimate most of these places are within an hour drive. Getting to the rural outskirts of town might take a bit of bus timetable work.

cheers,
(Mr)Wibble

PS> If you find a good one, please post it to EF.

Re: Horse riding in Pratteln

I've noticed in the hills above pratteln to the south, a couple of areas laid out with jumps etc. There are obviously "horsy" people here or people who know of such people. Also next to St Jacob stadium theres some big horsy arena of some kind and maybe people with horsy contacts. I'll make an effort to find out more if you are desperate.

edited (now that I can) to correct my north/south confusion. Also to add that today I drove along the Hauptstrasse in the centre of Pratteln and saw someone grooming a horse there. I asked him about Reitschulen and he said he knew of one in Lausen and one in Kaiseraugst; Googling for 'Reitschule Pratteln" gave both. The places I'd seen above are apparently entirely private.

Also I noticed for the first time that there's a shop near the Engel restaurant that specialises in leather and horse stuff but I didn't write down the name.

Re: Horse riding in Pratteln

Hi Wibble and Steve, sorry for the delay but thanks for your replies. I have been going to the one in Rheinfelden which is a very good school but no one really speaks much English there; my instructor speaks a little, just enough for us to understand each other. I am vaguely on the look out for one where there are more English speakers, so if anyone knows of one, please pass it on. Many thanks.

Re: Horse riding in Pratteln

My daughter has been riding in the area for about 6 years, but though I have looked at lots of schools, I have never seen many English speakers. When I took lessons at the Binningen riding school about 15 years ago the instructor spoke English. My daughter has been riding at a couple of different riding schools just over the border in Germany in the Kandern area (about 30 minutes from Basel). She's going to riding camp for a week in August near Kandern.
