I live in Luzern but very willing to travel to play netball. Hoping someone will keep me posted of any netball action going on! I'm from the UK and have been longing to take it up again...(I literally dream about playing still...so realised I have to do something about it) Am a versatile centre court player and played at county club level. I just found this thread and would love to be involved in playing netball in Zurich. Can anyone let me know if there has been a team organised already, or if I can get together with anyone and organise a regular game amongst people?

I am heading to Australia next weekend for 3 weeks over christmas and could get us a ball and bibs....we would just need to organise 2 teams in zurich and a venue (the suggestions of using a sporthalle and marking up our own court sound pretty good).

Hello! I got a lecture from my boyfriend yesterday for being a lazy bum, so my task of the day was to find some sort of sport to get into (don't tell him that, I don't want him to think I listened - I managed a whole evening strop in response). My sister just reminded me I used to play netball (eeerm 18 years ago), but I would LOVE to try and play again, so I looked on here, and surprise surprise - the English forum has the answer to everything!
So - is there anything happening in Zurich that I could get involved in?? Or can I help organise something if there is not something already organised? Thanks in advance!!

I'd also be keen to play netball again, in Zurich. Did anything eventuate out of all the interest I've seen on here from people in Zurich? - I can't find anything... Was anyone able to put something together - team, place to play, day/time? Looking forward to playing again!

I am really keen to get this sorted, especially for Spring/Summer time, and I am happy to organise if some others can help me.
I looked into trying to find an indoor court in winter but had no luck.
My concern is that because it does not seem to be a recognised sport over here, that there are no posts/nets available, only basketball nets. I am sure we could book some tennis courts though- there are a few of those around.
Anyone got any ideas about posts?
Bibs wouldn't be a problem to get hold of.

Format:

Introductions: There will be introductions in order to get to know each other
Goals: Define what people want to get out of the team in order to form our team goal

Training:

The first session will combine fitness as well as rotating per quarter to find peoples, strengths and development areas so that we can understand their best positions i.e. Centre Forward

We would hope to aim to train and bond as a team each Tuesday for at least 6 - 8 weeks, with the aim to get real experience by playing other teams.

There will also be the social side.

Agreed - If the OP wants to set up an event on EF would be much better. I ran a netball club in the uk and to cover work/holidays/complacency - the more members the better!
Here's hoping the OP gets it off the ground as there is definitely enough demand!

We tried to set up a netball team in Basel, loads of people were interested but after a long search we failed to find a proper netball court. Korbball is also an option but the court and rules are different.

I run a netball club in Geneva & co chair the newly founded Swiss Netball. its a growing sport here. We have held junior and senior tournaments in Geneva, Including teams from Lausanne. We are planning to hold another senior tournament for adult teams and teenage teams in September/ October. This time the newly formed Zurich team will join us. Are there any other teams out there who want to be involved?

Masking Tape works brilliantly to mark out a court. IFNA are working in the Lèman basin to get courts marked out, there are now 3, 1 in Geneva and 2 in Lausanne. Once we get official status in Switzerland, (we are working on it) tehn we can ask for funding from IFNA to put down courts where ther are teams already established. get those ladies back together.
