| | | [Zurich] Where can I rent a decent Mountain Bike?
I have a visitor coming to go biking with me the week after next. He is not bringing his own bike and I will have sold my spare bike by the time he comes so I need to rent something for the time he is here. I am looking for something fairly decent, must be full suspension with disc brakes.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

I'll try one of the bike shops you recommend and see if they rent proper mountain bikes.
Has anyone had any experience with trying to rent a bike for going to bike parks like Gurten or Filzbach?
Cheers.

The city claims on several websites that that the MTB specialist Transa rents bikes, but I haven't found it mentioned on their website, so I'd call or mail them before going to the shop. I haven't found a bike shop near the Gurten trail though...
Here are some videos of the Gurten trail: |

Or, if your friend is not too tall they might be able to borrow mine or Jeff's...

Would be great if you find out if your shop rents. The one catch is that the bike also has to have Avid Brakes, as my friend(brother) is used to having the rear brake on the left hand. With Avids it is very simple to sort this little problem out.
Not that I would alter a bike I had rented in anyway whatsoever!
My plan B is to go into a shop and try to get a "TEST" bike for the weekend. |

My shop has offered for me to "test" a bike over the weekend so that could be a possibility... When exactly do you need it and I'll ask.

I know a few places that do this, but don't "Rent" the bikes.

At Flims/Laax you can rent downhill bikes, not for the faint hearted though. Go up with a cable car and down with gravity.

I rented 6 mountain bikes at Tom's Bike Center in Wetzikon last weekend. Excellent service by Tom himself and excellent bikes (Specialized and Trek with soft tail) + very reasonable prices. It is only a 3 minute walk from Wetzikon train station.

Sorry to dredge up an old thread, but are there any bike hire centers closer to Zurich (in or around the city) that rent premium full suspension mountain bikes? | |
