| | | Wakeboarding
Hi everyone!
I am looking for people who would be interested in wakeboarding. I moved to Switzerland at the end of last year and realised that over here you can only wakeboard behind a boat as there are no cables.
The only problem with this is that it can get very expensive so I looked around and found the nearest cable in Germany in Pfullendorf http://www.wasserskipark-pfullendorf.de
I went there last week, it was about 1 and a half hours drive from Zurich and it really is a great place, cheap too!
If anyone would be interested in going there let me know, it would be more fun then going alone. I can go during the week or weekends.
Cheers
Attila

Every time I cross the bridge to the station I look down at the river and wonder if it's possible to surf/wakeboard/aqua-plane in the flow. There's already a few permanent waves.

I've done it a few times but I find it a total anticlimax surfing on a 6inch standing wave that has no real form. But there are loads of people who think its the mutts nuts!

Just checked it online and you're right, there is one but it's a lot further away from where I live then the cable in Pfullendorf. Will definately check it out if I ever go to that part of the country.

Thanks to Attila for organizing the trip, I had a fantastic day and cant wait to go again.
I checked the web to find out about the site in CH, ( http://www.alphasurf.ch/) it's probably at least twice as expensive as going to Germany.

It actually just kinda disappoints me every time I see it. All that water and still never glassy, even at 6 AM on a cloudy day.
The lake at Zug is really nice as there are portions of the lake that are wind-blocked so you can still get decent water in the afternoon.
I'm so buying a boat when I move back to the US. |

I guess that's what happens though when you have two friends with boats moored on a lake that has decent conditions most of the day. Sunrise or sunset is more what I'm about. |

| | | Re: Wakeboarding
After a great mornings wakeboarding at Pfullendorf last weekend with Attila I decided to check out the similar site in Switzerland http://www.alphasurf.ch/
(I dont have a car or motorbike here so it's not really possible to go to Pfullendorf unless someone else is driving anyhow).
The site is located near Friborg and can be reached from Zürich by train in a little over 2 hours. It's about 20 mins walk down from the train station to the 'location de téléski' and it's fairly easy to find. Not speaking any French was a bit of a problem, Nobody could understand my English but they did seem to understand my German, eventually I managed to pay for the 2 hour pass and hire the necessary equipment.
It's a little more expensive than Pfullendorf, but this is probably justified by the fact that they need to run a rescue boat (unlike Pfullendorf where you are never more than 50-100 metres from the edge of the water). Being a slightly larger lake the water does seem to be more choppy, The choice of equipment was a little bit more limited and there didn't seem to be any novice boards available at all.
After a couple of falls on the lauch I eventually got going and was able to make it through the first 2-3 turns before falling off and having to be pulled out by the rescue boat. I also found that doing a jump start (rather than sitting) was much easier and went wrong far less often. (A few of the cooler wakeboarders/wakeboarderess's were doing jump starts from about 2 metres up which was amazing).
Looking forward to going again next weekend, Pfullendorf if someone has a car, or failing that Estavayer le lac. PM me if you are interested.
Cheers
Tim

Even with an SBB Half Tax card it's still 61 chufs per person by train from Zürich to Estavayer-le-Lac.
Pfullendorf might be better if your as much as a novice as me. I'll investigate whether it makes sense to rent a car unless there are others on the forum who would like to go too.
It cost me 28 euros for 2 hours when I went to Pfullendorf, so this is def the best option if we can arrange some wheels.
What day is best for you Saturday or Sunday?
Tim

The other end was attached to the Bridge.
You hold the board vertical in the water and get pulled downstream, stretching the cord. When you are ready (stretched the cord enough), level the borad off and get sligshot back upstream.
I had a go and is was great fun.
Maybe this could be done on the Limmat, but you might get hauled out by the river/lake police.
Yes Wakeboarding is not cheap here, but compared to the costs (time & money) of heading somewhere for the day, might not be so bad in the end.
We used to head down to Ticino for the odd weekend to a place for Wakeboarding. Can't remember the detials but I could probably dig it out again if anyone was interested.

So weird, I was just thinking this weekend how much I missed days on the lake, wakeboarding and hanging out. I am definitely down for any and all trips.
