Re: Good Ski Resorts for Zurich

I'll let you know the conditions once I've been there. Though given my fitness level I don't expect to do a complete tour of the resort. Having said that I don't know how big it is so...

Yep, well it's an 8 seater and it is a problem getting 8 people who like to sit with one another...
Yeah, people who arse around in the queue because they want to get a seat only with their mates are the scourge of Swiss lift queues.

In Austria the lift guys are much more proactive once the queues start to get long - they practically herd you onto the lifts. As a result the queues go much faster. Nothing worse than waiting 10 mins to do a 4 min ski run.

Also, the big Austrian resorts have much better infrastructure than the Swiss ones. Ischgl may be an extreme example but it had amazing lifts. Even when the slopes are crawling with people you hardly have to wait to get the chair. They have loads of six-ers that seem to go much faster than the Swiss ones and have padded, heated seats to boot....

Re: Good Ski Resorts for Zurich

The new 8-er at Flumserberg has plastic drop-down roofs/covers - but only on every other seat. Another reason for people to not fill each one...

Ski resort near to Zurich with good après ski

Hi All
I have some friends coming to visit and we'd like to go to a resort near Zurich, probably 1.5 drive max, with good slopes for beginners and intermediates, possibility of lessons, and good après ski with somewhere cheap to stay like a hostel. We were planning on driving back to Zurich then going to bar or two, but staying on and having some real après ski would be great.

Any experienced après skiers please advise!

Thanks in advance

D
