Indoor Tennis in Zurich?

Hi,

My wife and I are moving to Zurich next month and we both
play tennis to a high standard and would like to know where
we can find good courts or tennis clubs / facilities, ideally with indoor
courts available.

Thx for any help

You would be more careful with such requests in this forum, please use search or google first.

it's evident that they look also for pal players and to socialise (that's what a forum is all about, isn't it?), i don't see why should they be more "careful".

Re: Indoor Tennis in Zurich?

Thanks!

I am not an idiot, I know how to search on Google thanks.
I asked this question because I have been on Google for
weeks and I dont speak German so it is hard to work out
where many of these clubs actually are relative to Zurich.
Next time I'll spell it out for you.

Also hoping to find someother tennis players.

Sorry not in to tennis myself just sell the equipment...

Anyway you might well find the best place to go is VITIS - www.vitis.ch they are friendly, ahve high roofs and are on a railway station, schlieren, which makes it easy to get to for those without cars. They also have plenty of parking for those with cars.

I would second Vitis, we play badminton there and the place is both good and easy to get to.

Re: Indoor Tennis in Zurich?

I know there are courts near the airport and in Wallisellen. As you are near Seefeld I'm not sure the nearest for you so try www.search.ch as the site is also in English. Good luck with your move here. Take some getting used to but after 6+ yrs here it can't be that bad can it

Talking of badminton and being bloody cheeky while Mark is away... Do you need any shoes? Got some great wilson shoes for only CHF60 brand new...

Hello,
In your original post, there is no mention of Zurich.
You also did not mention that you already searched on google.
You play tennis to a high standard, so I think you and your wife may find yourselves playing with yourselves, unless you join a real club for real play.

Since you are not an idiot, we proudly welcome you.
Sorry to be so "hard", but search on this forum, you will find that there are several postings about using search function first, and to mention it specifically that you are searching for "clubs actually are relative to Zurich."
This may help others pinpoint.

Did you see any people pointing these clubs to you? They sent you again to the generic swiss tennis websites?
Didn't they?

Anyway, any mod like to comment on this?

Re: Indoor Tennis in Zurich?

Quest, I play tennis here although not to a high standard. In my experience you have to join a club to play outdoor in the summer but if you`re happy to play in a hall you don`t have to be a member. Indoor tennis is very accessible and I think there are many people who will be happy to play you - particulary if you`re good. Also, many of these people will speak English. If you have any more questions, I would be happy to help you.

Re: Indoor Tennis in Zurich?

The privat club in the Reichenberg area of Winterthur, might be worth a visit they have raised some world class players. I think Martina Hingis trained there.

Re: Indoor Tennis in Zurich?

Hi Everyone inetersted in inddor tennis over winter season,

I'm gonna be relocating from sunny South Africa/Johannesburg where we only play on concrete surface at high altitude. I start work in Turgi close to Baden and Zurich in January 2008. I'm looking forward meeting intermidiate/advance players for singles/doubles 2-3 times a week time permitting. I would really appreciate contacts...

P.S. I realize that the conditions will be different and willing to slow down the game

Rgds,

Jacek

Re: Indoor Tennis in Zurich?

There is a center right by the train- and tram station of Stettbach called Schumacher. It's a two minutes trainride from Stadelhofen.

Re: Indoor Tennis in Zurich?

Hi Jacek and Nick,
Let me know if you want to try and put together any doubles sometime in the next few weeks. Nick, Jacek and I have played quite a bit so you can get an idea for my level from him if you want. Take care,
Ben
