| | | Climbers in Basel
I posted this in the "rock climbers in Zürich" thread, but thought I would start my own thread for Baselers:
I'd love to hear from any climbers in Basel who would like to meet up at the Gündeli Kletterhalle or even go outdoors sometime.
I've climbed both indoor (LOTS) and outdoors in Spain, and I'm far from my old standard but trying to get back in shape.
I'm a small, light woman but have often belayed my 100 kg husband! I'd love to find another woman who'd climb with me at Kletterhalle 7, but basically I'd love to hear from anyone in Basel who's interested in climbing.

Hi, Shazza,
I'm in Bern, but would be very glad to meet up outdoors somewhere convenient (i.e. Jura?), I'd be happy to travel an hour or so from Bern.
I lead 5a/b and follow up to 6a (on a good day :P), 1.54m, 45kg, F.
Contact me if you want to head out. We had a nice group going to Roches d'Orvin last weekend (near Biel, not too far from Basel), and no doubt there are lots of crags near there worth exploring.
Later,
-Elisa.

Hi, I have not climbed in 8 years, and would very much like to join an easy climb. I did two, three, simple top-rope climbs here in Switzerland when I first arrived, ca. 8 years ago. Before that I climbed in Iceland while at Uni. I have harness, shoes, car and map );
Perhaps we could do an intro climb for EF members? I know a few good bolted, 20-40m, starter places within an hours drive from Zurich/Basel/Bern.

Jayne - I have PMed you
Blueshrimp and Ikea - I would love to go climbing outdoors again. Maybe we can find somewhere accessible for everyone and make it an EF meet up? |

Anyone up for a trip to the Kletterhalle in Gundeli one evening this week (Thursday perhaps?), and maybe even post-climb beer in Eo Ipso?

Hi Jayne,
Climbing on Thursday would be great I am rusty as have not climbed for a few years but would love to climb again would you mind a quick refresher. I'm sure it will be like riding a bike never forget but if we could start slow that would be great.

Hi Tracey,
I would consider myself a novice, so a slow start would be just fine...
How about 7.30 on Thursday evening? I'll send you a PM with my phone no.

I'm also looking to get back into climbing. I've been going indoors (all top rope) for the last 2 years in London before moving to Basel in March. Would love to get back into the indoor climbing and try some outdoor climbing.

Hi all,
Wow! I was just about to post a note to find climbing buddies in Basel. I'm based in the UK but work out of Basel most weeks. I'm female and like climbing with girlie pals, about 50kg, lead up to 6a/b. I'm happy to climb anything really and just get out and have fun. I have lots of climbing kit for climbing outdoors, ropes, full rack etc. I'm next in Basel 30 July - 1st August and would love to meet up indoors one evening. And/or go out during the day on Friday 1st as I think it's a Swiss holiday. I don't have access to a car though or know anything about local outdoor crags.
Let me know if anyone fancies meeting up that week.
Cheers, Louise. |

Hi Louise,
Sorry have not replied earlier. Cannot make this week now but you are welcome to join us on Tuesday evenings at the wall. I would love to climb outside again at some point I cannot lead but can belay and second but do not know about any local climbs can try to research. Can also if planned in advance get access to a car which could make it easier.
Hope to meet up sometime
Tracey

Hi Tracey,
Thanks for your reply. I'm out again week after next and on the Tuesday night so would love to climb then. I'll message you nearer the time to check you can make it. Would also love to get outdoors sometime too. Have been researching nearby crags and can bring all my kit. I'm happy to lead and it sounds like public transport isn't too tricky if you can't get access to a car. We'll make a plan when we meet at the wall in next few weeks.
Hope to meet you soon, Louise.

I climbed a few years back but now am very rusty but...enthusiastic. Would love to meet up with a small group in Gunderli or even Pulse in Germany. Let me know when you guys plan the next visit to a climbing wall. Thanks for the great suggestion.

I'd love to get back into climbing again after an 18 month layoff and have not climbed in Switzerland since I arrived a few months ago. I have a local guidebook but no car, so outdoor might be a little difficult at the moment....but I'm keen to do something.
cheers

Hi,
I'm new to Basel and have managed to find K7. I have only done top rope climbs and was learning to set and clean an anchor before I moved here. I would love to keep learning and GET IN BETTER SHAPE! I would like to get a lunch pass to K7 but would like to have a few people that would be able to meet me there. I also have weekends free and would love to do some out door climbing and camping! |
