(Duebendorf, ZH) Where I can find a place to repair my bike

Hello everyone

The chains on my bike is break. Do you know where I can find a place to repair that? I live in Duberdorf near Zurich, I wish there is a shop in Duberdorf.

And, how much it cost usually? Just to joint the chains.

Thanks

Dubendorf isnt so far from the excellent Wider sport in Walisellen.

Seriously knowledgeable staff in there and pretty laid back.

you could get one of these ...http://www.starbike.com/images/SRAM/...nk_8-speed.jpg
shouldnt cost more than 5 CHF

but i doubt that will solve your problem , have seen alot of chains with 100%wear - not broken.
probably looking at a new chain , cassette and possibly crankset , the cost will depend on how many gears you have .

Just one piece is break, so I guess it should remove that one and joint with a little shortage in length

Right now Aldi supermarket is selling a bicycle repair kit for less than CHF12, if you're the DIY type, that is.

You can go to Veloplus in Wetzikon

www.veloplus.ch

buy the missing ling or connecting pin and do it yourself on the customer's workshop.

The costs involved are

1. train ticket for your bike ( 10-15 CHF )
2. train ticket for yourself
3. the missing link or closing pin, they are sold in 6 packs so you can't buy only one, the pack for a 10 speed chain costed me CHF 18 ( I have now 5 pins for sale or reserve )

maybe it would be cheaper at a local bike shop.

The only thing is that bike shops are usually overbooked at this time of the year and even if the jos is quick done, they don't like to put you before their other 15 customers on the waiting list.

Not necessarily, shortening the chain can limit the gears you will be able to use and may lead to some further damage.

If you are not sure about what you are doing or are comfortable doing it, I would recommend to take it to a bike shop and let an expert do it.
