Any climbers in Baden?

Hi ladies and gents!

I've recently moved to Baden and wondered if anyone out there is up for a spot of climbing?

I don't mind if its indoor or outdoor, bouldering or sport.

I've got a reasonable amount of gear and a car, so would also be up for a few trips out and about.

I have not been doing too much recently, just been a couple of times to the Hertenstein on some easy stuff, so hard to put an accurate grade on my ability. Over the past few years its been anything between english 5a and 6b depending on how regularly I climbed.

But don't get me wrong I'm not gradist and just want to have a bit of a climb and a laugh!

Send me a private message or whatever if you're interested!

Re: Any climbers in Baden?

Gidday Holdsy,

I'm not over there yet, but I will be in two weeks - will get in touch once I'm around, would definitely be up for some climbing. Is there a club in the Zurich area? Gaswerx sounds like it's pretty impressive for an indoor venue. I've no idea of what's in the area outdoors, but be worth going and having a look for some decent crags.

Re: Any climbers in Baden?

Good stuff!

I've not been to Gaswerk yet, but I went to Lenzburg last week which was pretty awesome.

Give me a bell once you're around

Ciao

Andy

Re: Any climbers in Baden?

oh...and to answer the question re. climbing clubs

I haven't heard about a climbing club as such but there are various SAC (Schweizer Alpen Club) sections around. SAC is a general mountaineering club and do pretty much everything I think.

I saw a thread about some people maybe joining up which you'll prob be able to find easily.

I quite fancy joining, but i've just not got around to looking into properly.

Here's the link http://www.sac-cas.ch/UEber-uns.26.0.html

Re: Any climbers in Baden?

Hi Elisa,

I'm up for getting involved and have signed up for your group.

Have you got anything planned for tomorrow? I'm probably going to Lenzburg gym tomorrow afternoon..I don't think the weather is meant to be up to much.

Ciao

Andy

Re: Any climbers in Baden?

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to let you all know that I've had a few private messages this week about meeting up for climbing.

Elisa has set up this group http://rockclimbing.meetup.com/148/ which you should check out.

I will probably post a meet up for this Sunday, but of course feel free to join the group and post things yourselves. I don't know that many places to go outdoors yet, but I will try and pick up a guide book at some point.

It would be sweet to get a group of regular faces together eventually and to have a laugh of course!

Andy

Re: Any climbers in Baden?

Hi all,

Sounds great - Elisa, isn't Bern a fair way from Baden? Or are the trains over there so good it just doesn't matter?

Andy - SAC sounds great. Especially since, in the course of packing, I found my missing mountaineering boot. So now Mont Blanc can just bring it on with it's bad self!

I'm not worried about whether it's english speaking climbers or not - I'm just after fun climbers. I'm sure german can't be that hard to learn ;-)

Re: how far away is Bern from Baden.

Trains are good.

Basically, since switzerland is so small, it doesn't really matter where you live, one can always find a crag that is at most an hour or an hour and a half from everyone. I regularly meet with climbers coming from Zurich, Lausanne, and Zug, often on the same outing, we just meet somewhere not too far for all of us.

This is for outdoors climbs. For regular, gym rat climbing, obviously, it is more convenient to be in the same town, but I'm not picky.

Later,

-E.
