I used to exercise usually alone due to long sets and times spent in gym (people simply didn't wanna go thru this hardship) but sometimes you need a partner when it comes to spotting with bench presses and similar...Once you have joined the gym you might find more folks that would be interested in practicing together or simply join some fitness classes if you are not interested in simple weigth lifting
After 13 years of bodybuilding and weight lifting I switched to tennis and find it more social than gymming...
