[Zurich, Baden] Advanced Tennis Players out there?

Hi all,
I'm looking for some experienced, advanced level players to hit with/and or play matches with. For the record, I played NCAA/university level tennis and local tournaments in the U.S., and have also taught tennis for over fifteen years. According to the international tennis rating system 1-10 they use here (10 is beginner and 1 is a touring pro) I would rate as a 3.
I have joined the tennis club in Baden, which is really nice except that there are not many higher level players who play regularly. Anybody belong to a club in the greater Zurich area that has some good advanced players?
I have really enjoyed the tennis social event started by Salsa Lover, and will continue to attend for the good times and great people...just want some other hitting options as well. I would love to hear from some of the experienced tennis players out there. Thank you.

Hi Ben,

I have a friend who may be interested, but is afraid you are perhaps too good.

Do you know what classification you have in the Swiss Tennis thingy?

Hi Natasha,
I'm trying to do some research about the ranking system here as I am unaware of how it works. I've got to run out now, but will get back to answering your questions a little later. As long as your friend is a reasonably experienced hitter I'm sure we could have fun playing...it doesn't need to be competitive. Thanks so much for responding and I'll get back to you.

Hi all,
I'm still looking for any experienced tennis players out there...can't believe that there is nobody else who wants to hit. If you know anybody, say a friend, relative, etc. who is a good player and wants to hit, send them my way! I'm posting this added message in hopes that some people just missed my earlier shout-out for players. Thanks!

Which club have you joined - the one in the Allmend, on the way to the Baldegg? Have you tried the Baregg?

Re: Advanced Tennis Players out there?

I played B and C tournies in California back in the 80's-90's. A bit out of shape and out of practice these days, but if you can't find anybody else, I might be up for hitting on the weekend.

Re: Advanced Tennis Players out there?

Hi Ben,

I'd love to play, anytime. Played plenty of tournaments and play now with some Swiss guys on Saturdays, but it is pretty slow paced doubles. I hit hard, but may not have the consistency that a former NCAA player may have. I tought for a few years, but kids, work, etc have sent my physical fitness into deterioration.

Also, there is an english forum poster named Jacek that lives close to Baden and has a great game. Sounds like you two would really enjoy playing.

Re: Advanced Tennis Players out there?

Ben,

as you are part of a club, you can join the swiss tennis federation.

check out the website here, just ask the club for the form to do the registration,

http://www.mytennis.ch/pages/?rub=12

( is only in german and french, but I can help you to read it if you want one of these days )

With this registration you get a swiss tennis federation licence, you normally enter with the lowest ranking that is R9

"R" stands for regional.

The swiss have a ranking system that goes from R9 to R1 on the regional torunaments and from N4 to N1 on the National level ( "N" stands for National).

With your new R9 license you can enter tournaments at your level in your region ( Zürich ). There are many tournaments every week all around Switzeland all year long. For juniors, seniors etc.

As you win ( and you will win easily at first I guess ) you win prizes and earn points and with these points you go up on the rankings.

When you reach the upper R rankings then you can start playing on the N rankings and when you reach the high N rankings you could get into the ATP.

I see from that web site that your club doesn't have many advanced players ( 2 R2s , 1 R4 and 4 R5s only ).

Re: Advanced Tennis Players out there?

Thanks for all the feedback fellow forum members! I will pm some of you about playing. I belong to the club on the way to the Baldegg near Baden (fifteen minute walk or short bus ride from Baden HB) if anybody is interested in playing in this area. I would also be willing to head into Zurich or any surrounding area if people have a club of preference. Thanks again,
Ben

Hi Arizon Ben--

I will be moving to Baden in September from Knoxville, TN and am looking for a tennis club. I am about a 4.0 to 4.5 NTRP in the US.

I should be arriving in mid-September and would like to make contact with you then.

Hi Nick,
Sorry to get back to you late...I'll send you a private message about tennis hear. My wife and I just got back from an absolutely breathtaking, amazing trip to the Jungfrau/Eiger/Gimmewald region by Interlaken...put it on your must see list--one of the most beautiful areas we have ever been to in our world travels!

Ben

Hi All
I'm also looking for some quality hitters for my son. He's an R2 here in Switzerland. I'm willing to pay the right person to have hits on a regular basis with him. He trains in Birrhard, but Baregg is quite close to where we live.
Cheers
