Found this site a while ago and I love it. It shows cycling, walking, driving, train, canoe etc routes that, best of all, you can download to your GPS or onto google maps.

Seems to graphically represent routes already on http://hwww.gps-tracks.com/ and other websites. Makes things easier though.
