It looks like I may be moving to Fribourg sometime in March, and since we´re fairly close by, I would be happy to join you. I did some climbing (mostly indoors, but some outdoors too) back when I was in California, and can´t wait to explore some of the cool places in Switz. Found a promising climbing gym in Bern, which may do for the winter in the meantime. Anyway, let´s keep in touch!

I just went indoor climbing for the first time yesterday and loved it! I had so many revelations about it, seriously! There is so much thinking involved - it's like doing a jigsaw puzzle with your entire body with the added element of fear of falling and dying.

So I guess I'm game for more climbing but in search of people who could tolerate a beginner such as myself. A friend has recommended that I do some indoor climbing classes where I will meet other people at my level. I live in Fribourg, and the place I went to yesterday was Magnet in Niederwangen, Bern.

Wonderful! It looks like our little group is growing! Maybe...we could even make it into a regular thing (i.e. indoor climbing on Fridays....outdoor once every couple of weeks weather permitting kind of thing, for instance, etc).

Sam, got your email, thx. I climb at around 5.10, which if I remember correctly is indeed F6a, so it looks like we´re about evenly matched. I don´t have much outdoors equipment either, but that too is easily remedied.

Carrie, yeah, I agree with you! I like rock climbing because it is a bit like solving a math problem, only...a lot more fun! I would be more than happy to join you at the Magnet in Bern whenever you need a belay partner.

Glad to find some like-minded folks living nearby. . Can´t wait to move to Fribourg in March and meet you!

I climbed 5 different areas at Magnet on Sunday, taking sizeable breaks between each wall. I don't know what my first try was, but the rest were 5a, 4c, 5c, 5a. It sometimes felt as if I was moving at a snail's pace.

Elisa, I have zero equipment, so I will need to borrow or rent if we make a date! I used my friend's stuff Saturday, as he was "showing me the ropes."

The timing of this post is great!! I am moving to Lausanne for two years starting 24 September. I only have indoor climbing experience and would classify myself as an intermediate. I typically climb 5.8 to 5.10 routes. Would love to join the group.

I'm unavailable for the next 10 days... so i can give you a call starting August 1st, thats the weekend so we can arrange soemthing. I have a car so its not a problem to find palces, but i still need to buy rope if we decide for outdoors...

I'd also be interested in this. I've done a tiny bit of indoor with my wife belaying (they wouldn't allow me to return the favour so wifey usually got bored). I'd like some professional instruction (indoors I guess) in time for next season.

Anyone want to sport climb this weekend or the next outdoors nearish Lausanne? I've got gear, but I'm not familiar with the area at all.

I am also interested in climbing! I have shoes but that's it. I haven't taken any formal classes but I went out with a friend this summer and had a blast. I think I conquered a 5.8. It was super fun. I'm not actually in Lausanne yet but I will arrive on Monday. Can't wait to get there!
