| | | Squash/Badminton players in Basel
Hi Folks,
Having dusted down my 20yr old squash racquet, I've just recently got back into playing squash and was wondering if anyone fancied a regular/semi-regular game of squash. My standard of play is low/moderate and so too is my fitness level.
I'm usually free Tues/Weds/Thurs from 7ish (pm) or maybe over the w-end.
The same applies to Badminton - anyone interested in a game?
Reply or PM me if you're interested. I've been using a sports centre in Allschwil in Basel for squash which is pretty decent and has been easy so far to book courts at short notice but they also have badminton courts.
Cheers,
Caroline

Sounds good to me - have pm'd you. However, given how these things grow, then take on a life of their own, do you realise you just volunteered to run the EF squash ladder & badminton league? ;-)

Hi,
Id Love to find a regularish squash partner too ,but In the Zurich Area.
Hope Im not being out of line by posting this in your Basel oriented thread.
I've been playing for about a year about once a week. I play a decent game but dont yet have great stamina.
I'd love to hear from anyone else wanting to get together for squash in the evenings at the airgate.
The Grasshopper Club is a way better deal financially, for anyone playing regularly, but its way on the other side of town for me. Although I'd be up for that occasionally as well.
3day.

ummm good question! it can be fairly irregular! But its usually a tuesday or a thursday most weeks.
But my colleagues are looking into a french club that book courts in and around basel and a years membership is around 50 euro, and you can turn up an play every week.
But for now we play at vitis. But i'm free to play whenever. You are quite good? korean olympic standard??

Fancy a game next Wednesday at 6pm, I can try to book a court at VanderMerwe when I go tonight (its the green building with a skittle on the side behind Vitis)

I haven't played Badminton in ages... well for more than 5 years... but carry my racquet everywhere I move... would fancy playing it if I can find someone to play with...
My level is somehwere in the middle ( I did win a gold medal in the Grand Canyon State Cup a decade ago... but the standard ther was no where close to even US national levels which )...
anyone interested? probably on a weekday night 7 ish...

To start with I am just interested in finding a local court to play at, as I am a real beginner (both at the game and fitness), and have a colleague with whom I can play with.
I would appreciate some links to web sites if anyone has them, to get me started at least. Once I am more proficient I can return to challange allcomers.
Thanks in advance |

I've played before in Aesch, "Tennis an der Birs". It's a decent court, but out of the way from Basel (15 mins drive with the car).
I called up St. Jakob and they said they closed the badminton club a couple of months back.

Unless anyone can confirm there's an existing local league, I will be running a league for all interested at Sport Baregg (Datwill - near Baden).
It only has 3 courts, but they're ok and cheaper than most other places (+20% discount available for Alstom employees)
I may create online league which will include clubs from Zurich area in the future, it will depend on interest.
Please pm me your email details if you want to be included in the Bareg league and I'll get back to you.
In the meantime, if anyone wants a game at a court Nr Baden (Zurich is furthest I can travel at the moment) please get in touch.
I'm probably at an intermediate level, happy to play any level.
Cheers,
Mike

Hi, I would be willing to run a squash ladder in Basel if I can get enough takers. I would also like to hear from any intermediate players who are up for a game, on an evening around 6 or 7..?
