Does any one in Lausanne interested in skiing. I am new to switzerland and looking for people who want to go skiing.
Also any one interested in playing court volleyball during winter and beach volleyball during summer. I don't know any place yet.

mmm beach volleyball in switerland ... should be interesting lol. Im up for the skiing by the way... however im quite new to it .. but if you dont mind a twit in an elegant ski suit trying to get down a hill as slowly and saftely as possible whilst b****ing about the cold all day.... count me in

seriously I heard from people in the institute, that there are 2-3 beaches in lausanne where you can play beach volleyball. They have the courts and net set up for you to play.
About skiing, I am not a pro either..but if you are in switzerland you have to go skiing. Are you in lausanne or in other city. Lets see how many people are interested.. if not we can go ourself. I will talk to locals about the places to go and keep you posted.

oh no sorry, wasnt saying volley ball isnt a swiss thing, just the fact it wont be on a real beach... Still seen some nice courts even in some schools around Bern and Zurich. I started out in Zurich but over the last few weeks, found myself in Yverdon (working). If you can PM me nearer the time. Not sure if all the resorts are fully open yet with the lack of snow.....

I neither ski nor play volleyball, but I can vouch for the fact that there are indeed beach volley ball courts in Lausanne (by the lake at Vidy) and even a beach volley ball tournament each summer:

As you say, it isn't quite a real beach.. but sand-filled courts next to the Lac Leman are not a bad substitute! In fact, it seems to be a very popular activity as the courts have always been full when I've gone past them during the summer evenings.

For more info you could contact the Lausanne Volleyball Club http://www.lausannevbc.ch/ (in French) or maybe even the International Volleyball Federation http://www.fivb.org/ since they have their HQ in Lausanne by the train station).

is there anyone who plays wolleyball in Lausanne? I will go there for a month and looking for a team to play with them in some occasions (I'm not professional, but practicing for some years...)
any idea where can I find a cheerful team there (maybe about the age of myself (26) or older)?

I have played beach volleyball for last 5-6 years back in Canada and looking for a team here. May be we should put a co-ed team here .

Ok does anybody know how to get this more organised?? Would we need to bring our own nets to the pits or are there some available and who would we ask to get those?? Barb bring some sporty clothes cause will hit a ball around even if we can't get a pit.

I will look into the court and net situation. I know there are courts in lasuanne. Given the nice and warm weather, we should be able to play sat and sundays during noon hours and some evenings. what i know from talking to locals, that there are few courts by EPFL, but you have to show up early. As long as there are courts available, I am willing to invest in a net and ball. so how about , everyone who is interested in playing email me at the above email address and we will go from there. I would definitely like get this thing roling in next few days.

maybe the weekends will be good for me, but not the best, because I would like to see the country too, and I'm afraid that I will only have enough time for it at the weekends too...so if we find some free weekday afternooons or evenings to play, it is good for me too...
here in Hungary the weather is not the best...what about in Lausanne? do you really thinking in beach volleyball? isn't it so cold for that? or is there a covered court??

In terms of organizing. I went last sunday and actually played few beach volleyball games with people already there. It was nice and warm. But yesterday and today we got some snow, but its suppossed to warm up again. We can actually play once during the weekdays and once at weekend.

Hi everyone!

Just saw this thread today and I'm hoping it's still a live one. I'm definitely interested in some beach volley! I've only played a few times (i.e. I'm not quite at pro-level ), but I really loved it!

I'm in Morges, so if you plan on meeting at Park Vidy or anywhere else nearby, I'm definitely game.
