Horse Riding Lessons

Heya all

I was wondering if there are members out there who would be interested in taking horse riding lessons ( or kids of members)??

There are two people that I have in mind for the teachers:

1. Me, now let me first say that neither of us are qualified but both of us have been riding for years, personally I have been rising since the age of 7 so im figuring that by now I have a few tips that can be passed on.

2. My soon-to-be-niece Desiree, who has also bee riding for years and years and has made it her permenant job to work with horses.

We both have the option of offering our services in English (me) or Swiss German ( Desiree) and naturally Desiree speaks High German and I speak passable High German.

The stables are in Rüti where there are 2 horses used for lessons. 1 Freiberger and 1 Thoroughbred ( not usually used for beginning beginners).

Riding lessons are CHF40 per 30 mins.

For me information please feel free to contact me via PM

Enjoy

Re: Horse Riding Lessons

Am def interested!!

Some lessons would be great as I'm a little rusty (not ridden in over 12 months and was never all that good anyway!)

Cheers

Re: Horse Riding Lessons

Hi All

Just a quick update on the lessons... they are postponed.

My horse Rami ( the Thoroughbred) is currently out of action due to a condition called "kissing Spines" ( its where the vertebrae rub together - painful ) and it will be at least 6-8 months before I can use her for lessons again and the Freiberger is no longer available - owners request.

Sorry to dissappoint

Enjoy

Re: Horse Riding Lessons

Heya

Ok so the update on Rämi is after seeing another vet and having many more xrays done ( god this horse is costing me a small fortune ) it turns out not to be kissing spines() but something else that still requires alot of work.

As for lessons it will be at least March before I could give lessons using her. I still need a few months to build the muscles required to carry a rider. And as she has just had a month off due to a kick injury recieved from another horse that she is paddocked with the plans are now set back even further. But with an almost clear bill of health from the vet I am feeling very positive that she will make an almost complete recovery..WOHOO!!

Though unfortunatly when I can use Rämi again there will have to be weight restrictions due to the back problems, so I wont be willing to put anyone on her back heavier than 70kgs.

efarly - I know of only one good place to learn jumping but you do need your own horse, though I am sure that there are others around where you can also rent a horse. This place in Rüti ZH - ( I havent been down there for a while but..) they were running a class on a Tuesday evening called "Horse Gymnastics". They would take horse and rider through basic small jumps over cavelletti and barrels etc and working on the paces approaching jumps etc. Classes ran for about an hour for 6 weeks.

There is also a stable in the next village to me ( Tägerig AG) that rents horses for lessons ( a neighbour of mine is learning there) I dont know though if they do jumping classes but it would appear that they are building a new jumping arena ( not 100% sure on that though). I will ask also at my stables if anyone knows of a place and I will let you know.

KitBoyE17 - slow and steady wins the race ( apparently )

Enjoy

Horse Riding Lessons

Hello there,
Just moved to Zuerich area, and the first thing I did was try to find a good riding school as I've been doing it back in UK for the last 18years. This morning went to check out one near Zurich flughafen, Kloten. The lady who runs the riding school speaks excellent english. They have some good looking horses, and whilst there, an english speaking lady was having a lunge lesson. I have arranged a private lesson next week to see where they can fit me in in the group lessons.
Love to hear from any english speaking riders. Let you know when I have had my first lesson.
Elizabeth, are you still checking the site here?

Schoenes Wochenende

Rachel

Hi Elizabeth,
I'd love to go jumping as well. I've just contacted a school near Zurich airport today and visited them. School is called www.reitschule-waldhof.ch. I am going to have a private lesson next wednesday. If you are interested in jumping lesson between the 2 of us (assuming we are similar standard), say, I can enquire when I go for my lesson wednesday. I've been riding over 15 years in UK, but even there, a lot of schools reluctant to do jumping because of the horses.
Let me know.
Regards
Rachel

Re: Horse Riding Lessons

Hi! My name is Megan, and I recently moved to Zug. I've taken both English and Western style lessons years ago, and just wished to express my enthusiasm at the idea of receiving horse riding lessons here in Switzerland I hope that they are still available. Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays would be best with my present schedule.
Thanks!!!

Re: Horse Riding Lessons

Hello, I am from texas and I am moving to switzerland in the next couple weeks. I need a good barn, and it would be even better if I had someone that spoke pretty good english and german to teach me the terms like saddle, girth....ect. I would love to come out and try out this barn. I have been riding 5years solid, all sizes and personalities. I rode a really lazy horse for my beginner horse riding life so I won't put up with a horse that doesn't listen. :P I've never fallen because a horse spooked/reared/bucked/bolted and the first time I fell off was because I didn't want the pony to take off with me so I jumped off because I was a beginner and I knew I could easily fall and get hurt. Then the second fall was with a horse that was taking off for a jump and then in the middle spooked and ran the other way. And until I opened my eyes i had no idea I even fell. Then the third time I fell it was 120 F and I was in the middle of a coarse with the really lazy horse I used to ride and the horse knew I wasn't paying attention and he did the slowest ride by ever (I know that's how out of it I was haha). The last time I fell was this year, and I was riding this old horse that sometimes gets tired and trances, I had been cantering around the ring and then my trainer wanted me to go over the cross rail so instead of stopping in the middle of the ring like I always do when I'm about to jump I went ahead and just went for the cross rail. So he was in a trance and didn't notice that we were going over the jump and he tripped and fell. Neither one of us were hurt too badly, he was just really sore for a couple weeks and then he was fine. Now this doesn't mean I want to ride a horse that will kill me, but just to let you know that I'm a pretty good rider. Though I do think that it would be nice just to ride a good horse to focus on correct riding because I've been riding too many problem horses in the past years and developed some bad habits. Though its fine, I'll live with whatever I get. It be great to try out your barn! please let me know! thanks

Horseback riding schools in switzerland

Hello everyone, I am moving to Switzerland and I need a good eventing barn with a trainer that speaks English pretty well so they can teach me the terms in swiss german/german..ect. I have been doing jumpers, equitation, and hunters. And want to try to get serious with my riding, so I want to learn dressage. Though I want to continue to do jumpers and start doing cross country. I don't have a horse, but I've ridden all sizes and personalities. I want to ride for a while a pretty easy going horse so I can get out of some bad habits I've developed from riding problem horses. I am 5'7-9 and have really long legs (so I've been told) so I need a pretty big horse (I have pictures of me riding recently if that helps)

If you don't know any that speak english then just put the stables you know. It can be any location, preferably not the Italian part but that's fine.
