Re: Engadine Ski Marathon

Way to go Heather - You have set the bar really high now with these race reports! And I must tell you that you caused Herr Hillseeker/Advntur to recite experiences in poem-style during our bike rides now... So next time we all ride together, I expect we will be entertained by many a rolling-poem... Good thing is there are many words that rhyme with the word hill!

Re: Engadine Ski Marathon

so Heather, with the benefit of hindsight, what was harder: the race or the poem .

Good job completing the Engadiner! The pictures really give a feel for what it must be like amongst all those skiiers.

Wonderful account, you had us all on the edge of our seats waiting for the conclusion. Thanks for posting!

Engadine Ski Marathon Accom

Hi - any good advice as I am looking for accomodation within reasonable distance of the Engadine Ski M for next year. Looks like the regular booking sites return crazy expensive or very few results....just looking for a room or anything really to sleep me and my family the day before. THanks for any suggestion.

The tread might be old but the Engadin Ski Marathon will sure be coming round again - on the 11.3.2012 to be exact. Anyone else contemplating taking part? It will be my first start in Maloja this year, doing the full 42km. Only a recent convert to cross-country skiing so will be curious to see how I go.

I have also signed up for it. That will be my second time (so it means I enjoyed it the first !).
Did you already find some accommodation? I didn't give it too much thought until now but I'm realizing that all the good (i.e. cheap) places are sold out

One month ago was already late. I have booked at this place 2 weeks ago and they still had vacancies. You can also look in surrounding villages, most of the places will have shuttle buses on the race day.

Good luck with finding something so you can enjoy for the second time!

They seem to be full now. But thanks anyway!

Yes, there are trains from as far as Davos, Landquart or Chur or even coaches from Zurich and Winterthur. They leave a bit early, though.

Re: Engadine Ski Marathon

Luckily I've got relatives in the area where I can stay the night before. Will be on the 5.40 train from Tiefencastel though - staying over in Engadin does seem a major hassle, so I think the train is the less of two weevils.
