Come and play hockey (field, not ice) in Lausanne!!

Stade Lausanne is a lively club with teams for men and women, playing at Vidy on a water based astro pitch. Training is starting now for the 2009 season.

See the attached poster for details about the ladies' team, run by Dave Merrell. The ladies comprise many non-swiss players and the language used is English. The men shout in French, but don't let that put you off since many speak English too. It's a friendly club with many of the home matches finishing with a beer and a bbq sausage...

Haven't played hockey since about 1992!

I was actually pretty good in my heyday, playing for south Manchester under-19s at 16 years old.

Only problem was I was also playing football for Manchester United Ladies at the time.

As you know, the offside rules are not the same. In football, it's when the ball is released and in hockey it's when you receive it. I was basically offside in hockey about 250 times a game, lol.

Jenny, you're showing your age. The offside rule was scrapped in hockey many years ago It produced a far better game and I reckon football would benefit equally... but then the newspapers would have less to moan about

Like I say, it's been a while.

Maybe I was revolutionary and started a whole process of people wanting to scrap it.
I should have won an award or something for record number of offsides in a single season or something, lol.

Would love to give the hockey malarkey another go but not sure age/fitness level/RA will allow
