Women's Team Sports in Basel

Hi Everyone!

I just moved to Basel and I am interested in joining some sport activities. I have done a search for team sports in Basel and I found the women's rugby thread

Are there any other team sports for women in Basel? Would like to know and I am sure other ladies here would be interested too.

Thanks!

Is netball widely played outside of the UK? My wife used to play it quite a bit in her student days and I'm sure she would be interested in taking it up again.

That would be fun but you need a court/baskets - don't think a basketball court would do the job - unless you chalked the different lines on there...

Nothing wrong with Rugby I have been playing in Basel for a couple of years and the coach is Irish. It is great for fitness and a good laugh! We train on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 19:00 - 20:30 so feel free to come down and bring a friend, we are always looking for new players Feel free to PM me if you want more info!

Volleyball seems like a good choice, too.

Here's a list of volleyball clubs in Basel. I'm not aware how many english-speakers there are, but it's probably best to inquire with the contact person usually listed unter 'Kontakt'.

Would love to play.

Re: Women's Team Sports in Basel

Hi all,

Just been looking through and I would be interested in checking out the rugby group. Never played before, but might be fun to learn, tried joining a gym but seem to lack the motivation to keep going. I take it we just turn up on Tuesdays or Thursdays for the rugby?

Shame about the lack of netball courts, that would have been fun too.

If anyone else knows of any other groups, would be interested to know.

Thanks

Di

Re: Women's Team Sports in Basel

how annoying - there doesn't seem to be a ladies rugby team in Lausanne and I think Basel's a bit of a trek, especially since I'm known to have a couple of shandies after a game...

Maybe I should start a rival team

Hey Imogen, there are clubs in Nyon, Cern, Neuchatel and Yverdon, perhaps you could check out one of those?

Good luck!

Re: Women's Team Sports in Basel

Hey Pinki -

Thanks. I don't know where any of those places are yet but with the power of Google maps I will do my best to find out.

Have been in touch with Stade Lausanne already and apparently there are a couple of ladies already interested in playing so hopefully we'll at least be able to put together a 7s team.

It can be my Switzerland mission!

Thanks for the link! Would love to join an indoor volleyball league or club. Living in central Basel, does anyone on here currently play or have a suggestion for a good club? I played in high school and off and on on a club here or there since. In other words, i am not a beginner but i am not a pro either

Hi - I am interested in playing basketball in Basel!

There was somebody else interested in basketball on the forum but not sure if it's m or f. I think mixed teams are fun too!

Let me know if you're interested!
