Rollerblading classes (Basel)?

Hey all, does anyone know of a place in Basel or nearby where you can learn how to blade properly. I can do the basics, but heel stopping and crossover still eludes me. Also my missus is keen to learn, so I'm happy to start from the beginning.

Cheers

Re: Rollerblading classes (Basel)?

Just in case you don't have any luck with classes, have you tried watching training videos on YouTube? I've just taught myself heel stopping like that (it was a bit of a shock when I realised I couldn't just spin my heels and hockey stop like on ice-skates!), and I picked up a whole load of skiing tips like that too.

Good luck with it.

Hi
I know there are Migros Klubschule who offer kurse in inline-skating. If you want I could teach you alls skills. Since I am a kid I have done rollerskating ,,never stopped,,,now I do inline-skating. If you want we could start with basic lessons or to go once to mondaynight skating in Basel? I think they will start soon again in Basel.
Please if interested drop me a line...

Re: Rollerblading classes (Basel)?

I called Migros School, and they offer classes. But the problem is that it is in German. Please let me know if there are inline skating lessons in English.

Thanks,
Halaseh

Re: Rollerblading classes (Basel)?

Hi,

I have just acquired a pair of inline skates and am eager to learn them. Did people meet up thru this thread and is the Monday Night Skating still on in Basel?

Thanks!

Re: Rollerblading classes (Basel)?

but hes still only beginning.I am currently teaching my son how to rollerblade. Kids "get it" so fast.. Every weekend (usually Sunday), we practice along this stretch of pathway:

http://maps.google.com/maps?oe=UTF-8...01707&t=h&z=20

Its great, very flat, and no cars. Very good for trying stuff out, at any speed you like. If you lose control, you can ditch into the corn field to the left side.

I have been skating since I was small also. Not a professional or anything, but can teach the things you are asking for. I taught my wife too, and she is pretty good, if I do say so myself

If you dont mind me teaching my son at the same time, you are welcome to join, we can set a time by PM if you like. Most Sundays for a couple of hours I'm there - until the weather cools down I guess!

Re: Inline-Skating Lessons in Basel

I googled 'inlineskaten lernen Basel' and came up with this place. Maybe you'd be more likely to find something in spring though.

Make sure your safety gear is OK won't you?

Re: Rollerblading classes (Basel)?

Your neighbors will think you are nuts but skate while pushing/holding onto a sturdy children's stroller - a tall one so you don't have to bend over too far. I learned that way and it helps tremendously when learning cross overs. Just go round and round and round and round and round........

Re: Rollerblading classes (Basel)?

Go to youtube and search for "rollerskating" or "rollerblading". You will find some nice tutorials, including the basics, tricks, etc.
Maybe it helps!
