My Future husband and I are living in San Diego and we will come to Lucerne (my hometown) to get married in May (16-31).Chris is a big cycling addict and I don't think he would survive it not to ride for 2 weeks. Now my question, does anybody know where we can rent a road bike? I also think he would be more comfortable to ride with somebody who knows the area pretty well, are there any events going on during this time or is there a group who rides together? He definitely can't ride on the 16 & 17 and the 20-25th but beside that we don't have any plans and I would love to surprise him. I guess he is on the faster side he rides twice a week (100 miles total) and I guess his average speed is around 18-22 miles per hour. It would be awesome if it would all work out.

Don't be too surprised if you get no replies until Tuesday; in much of Switzerland both Good Friday and Easter Monday are holidays, so many will be taking the four day weekend away from their computers.

Actually there are loads of biking addicts here, so your husband (by that time) won't feel alone. You might explore the numerous cycling threads on EF to know more on this topic. Btw there is a cycling celebrity here who shares the same name

You can check out the "calendar" on the EF and find rides based from Zurich and other places. perhaps closer to Lucerne.

If you think of renting bikes from Zurich I can recommend shops, but renting bikes is quite common in Switzerland, and you should easily find some in Lucerne, especially given that it is your hometown and it is a tourist spot. Also, you might want to give him a bigger surprise by actually riding with him instead of just arranging a ride.
