Re: Where can I buy a new Kayak???

Hi,
Decathlon have a few Necky touring kayaks and some sit-ons. You can check out the website (decathlon.fr) or visit the store in Thonon (across the lake from you) or there is a store in Annemasse. It depends on what type of paddling he wants to do, his experience and the material (Plastic = heavy & robust, Fiberglass = light, but easy to damage).
Cheers

has anyone had experience with an inflatable kayak? If so I would really appreciate it if you could share the pros and cons.

Re: Where can I buy a new Kayak???

From what I hear, and based on past experience with kayaks and a lot of other water craft. I think they will be very stable, but also very dangerous if there is any breeze at all. The will be prone to wind drift as they don't have as much under the water as a conventional kayak.

I would say they are suitable for flat inland waters and rivers where there is very little wind influence. I know that they are also used on white water due to their stability.

I haven't used an inflatable kayak myself though.

Unfortunately you can't just buy somebody a kayak. Well you can but it may not be a good fit. Oddly enough getting a kayak is a personal thing. After you get past what kind of kayaking your hubby wants to do, white water, play boating, big water, touring, sea touring etc etc, you then need to look at his weight and paddle style. You are probably thinking I am overcomplicating this but do yourself a favor. Take him shopping for the kayak. Half the fun is hunting out that perfect boat. Good luck & have fun. Let us know how it goes.
