And could you share the name of the GYM with us, sounds like a good deal. Also the location would be helpful.
Spare bedroom strasse, Richdogville.

EDIT: I didnt see the quote and what you were talking about Bindu... oops.

Re: Yay, no more sucky gyms for me (thread about getting back in shape, all welcome).

Was talking about this one

Hey congratulations!
I just signed up for the gym that is right beneath the building where I work. It was not extremely expensive (~600 CHF) including sign up, 1 year contract, a special bracelet that you se to sign in and out etc.
I am glad I did they offer a LOT of classes and the machines are really modern and I can calculate (or rather they do it for me) how many calories I burned and the kilos I lifted, since in each machine I can put my personal code.
I need to lose some serious weight and I am very happy I joined. Also some dieting of course has been implemented haha only cuttng down on what I eat...
Well hope you enjoy your workout

Take care

Angela

Hey guys, if you hit the 'quote' button and then leave all the funny brackets, names, numbers etc. in place (even if you shorten the text within them) I could work out who said what, and, with a bit of extra effort, might understand the posts.

Re: Yay, no more sucky gyms for me (thread about getting back in shape, all welcome).

I wholeheartedly support initiative to get fit. In my early 20's I used to be avid gym goer. I agree that joining the gyms is sometimes pain in the ass not only in terms of being subject to long term contract but also hassle to get in there outside peak hours, wait for machine for consecutive set and reps. Then going to locker room, taking a shower and stopping for extra energy milk shake it all steals the precious minutes/hours, whereas express gym at home it is the best way to go. Having been a member in various gyms for over 15 years world wide I know how it works. In the past I also had set of dumbells with plates, basic bench with barbell, bar across doorway for pull ups and other spring type of accessories that can find their way in home gyms. Lack of spotting partner allowed me to do only basic bench-press exercises with limited weight but it sufficed otherwise I went for additional push-ups.
You will always find that there is a tradeoff between access to the machines "in real fitness centre" which allow you to do various exercises and those limited to home corner. Initial setup of home gym is more expensive but in a long run you will get your money back if you stay disciplined and stick to your goals.

Luckily here in Switzerland I have access to the company's small fitness centre but it is way better than home gym and I do not need to join in large fitness centre. There are always only few people using it and therefore no need to wait. They have pretty much everything there. Having said that I only use the gym in winter time because of lack of time and also because it would be blasphemy for me not to enjoy other outdoor activities which can keep you in agood shape like swimming, cycling, tennis, hiking just to name a few.

In winter time it is different story though. More sedentary lifestyle and only weekend skiing and few sessions of tennis do not suffice therefore weightlifting and threadmill are more justified.

One way or the other it is always good to get up your arse and do sumfing

If I may be permitted a small plug, I have some dumbells/EZ curl bar going over here:

Moving sale - furniture etc for sale [Zurich]

By way of contribution I also support 'working out at home' even if it's just for a top up. It's too easy to run out of time for a gym session but having some basics at home is great if you just have 20 minutes.

Cheers
Diem

Nah not just for 20 minutes, people survived a long time without gyms to go to. Besides i'm not looking to get like Mr UNiverse, I would need a body transplant for that.

For sure more than 20 minutes - but I meant if you only have a little time, you can still do something useful.

Must dash - off to the gym!
