When I lived in the UK I was a member of Outdoorlads. It is a nationwide organization that organizes sports/outdoor events for gay guys. Most weekends there was hiking, camping, cycling etc. It was a great way to meet new people with similar interests.

I wondered if a similar organization exists in Zurich/CH? I know about gay sports in zurich, but that isn't exactly what I'm looking for.

why not start one on meetup.com?

You'd be suprised at how different people are finding people of similar interests.

Er, it's also possible on here. Set up an event, sit back and wait for the RSVPs. If that fails, postpone it and set a new date. Repeat ad infinitum. Easy peasy.

The web-page is somewhat not maintained, but hikes are still organized... e.g. last WE we hiked Elm-Linthal in Glarus. Described in

Bergsport are however serious hikers & good physical condition is needed (!)

BTW there is nothing to be afraid for language issues ! !


If your condition is not optimal, you can choose for www.lacetsroses.ch, who rather go on less severe hikes, or mountain wanders.

I wasn't meaning to divert attention from englishforum.ch

It is a different kind of website, with tailored software specifically for finding people of specific interests.

Many of the meetup.com groups form and then advertise their events on englishforum.ch

I am an average Zurich expat and not affiliated with them in either way.

I am just impressed with the number of specialized Zurich groups this group management site has formed within that last year.

I also have been a loyal and ardent fan of englishforum for a number of years.
