Re: [Zurich] In-line Skating - tuition needed

Oooh~ has there been a group formed? I'd love to join in please.
And I KNOW I'll hang out around Nettie, the skating style she/he described is my kinda skating! Nettie ~ we can submit our video and win a funniest video price.
So pls give some info if there's anything being organized. Thanks!

Still need somebody to teach? I learned it by myself, too, and I am absolutely not a prefessional - but if you find some time, I am planning to get my skates out be next weekend (June 2 or 3) and you are welcome to join!
Hi!
Could you please teach us, if you have time??
Kind regards,
Shah.

Hmmm oddly enough the idea of broadcasting a video of myself with my tongue sticking out of my mouth in concentration and a panic look in my eye while i wobble along clinging to anything does not appeal to me. I like the cool detached sophisticated capable of everything image I've created over here. I dont want to ruin it.

I took a class as well when I was learning to skate and am extremely grateful I did because I didn't really feel secure on them until after someone showed me the different ways to brake, etc. Unfortunately, I can't remember the name of the guy who did my class...

If you need to get a group together for a lesson I would be more than happy to sign up and I think I can presuade two friends too join too. Maybe if we got a group together, one of the schools could organise an english class.

At the moment I can just about stand in them as long as I'm holding onto something. But only in that sexy knees and toes pointing towards each other but slowly drifting apart and my arse sticking out. Then as soon as I feel any sort of confidence, the ground jerks and I'm spreadeagle on the floor.

Hmm... Our best bet seems to be UncleMax! And sure we can buy him a few beers afterwards, and ourselves some too
Devinder ~ seeing as you started the thread, do you want to organize and inquire with UncleMax? I live in Kilchberg, but have a car so can meet up wherever. If you are familiar to this area (near the Sanitas fields) there are these smooth pavements that may be great for us learners.
Cheers

Re: [Zurich] In-line Skating - tuition needed

Hello All,
Although i came across this thread and am quite interested in starting to roller blade again.
I had some experience before, i Played Street hockey before for 1 year (with roller blades), and Ice hockey for 4years. And since it is the summer still, i would love to get some roller blading done (the principal of movement is the same in both cases). In regards to stopping, it depends on the blades you have, some have a brake pad on the back of the right heel, and all you have to do is dig that brake into gorund, while leaning back a little. Start of at slow speeds,
If there is no brake, then it is a little more difficult as you have to litteraly make a sharp turn to stop.

Re: [Zurich] In-line Skating - tuition needed

Ok so here's the deal:

Instructor: Uncle Max

Probable students: Myself, World Citizen, Nettie + 2 friends, Leylak, Locoamy

Location: TBD, preferably in Zurich Stadt

Time: Saturdays @ 1100 hrs, to begin with

Students, would be great if you could confirm your availability, and also let us know in case there are more interested.

Uncle Max, the ball's now in your court with respect to your willingness and the earliest available date to teach us poor nothings a bit or two about skating. And oh yes, about your 'fees' as well ...you can let us know in advance about the brand of beer you'd prefer

So long!
Dev

remember - beer after the tuition. Quality should match the lessons.

And don't drink and skate

Er, right.

Just read this thread and I'm afraid you'll have to find a more spontaneous instructor. Or just meet up, lark about and go for beers. Then skate a bit more, you'll get the hang of it

Re: [Zurich] In-line Skating - tuition needed

Hi,
I just wanted to resurrect this thread.

I've bought a pair of skates this past weekend and I want to get myself up to the level where i can join in the Monday night long-skate through Zurich.

Does anyone have any suggestions on where i can learn in Zurich? (last post was about 2 yrs ago in this thread)

What i'm hoping is that I won't need to take them back to London and take lessons in Hyde Park!

Thanks
Kash.
