Hi there!
Im moving to Lausanne in the new year and am hoping to find somewhere to ride nearby. Can anyone recommend a yard in the area where I could find a horse to share or just have some lessons?
Any advice appreciated!
Thanks
I posted some info. re. places to ride in the Aubonne area yesterday so may be worth taking a look at. These are just the places that I know but am sure there are many more in the area.
The Rhone valley between Villeneuve and Martigny has some terrific places to ride because it's still largely agricultural and it's criss crossed with public paths and tracks. There are several stables around Noville, Aigle and Bex with direct access to fields and tracks. Probably too far from Lausanne (30 mins car ride) to do everyday but for a chance to blow the cobwebs away with a good long trot/canter it's the best.
Thanks Nev, at weekends I should have access to a car, so it sounds like a good idea - ill give it a try. I have some friends coming out that might like a good day out, so ill look into it. Thank you!
There is a large area of riding stables on the east the Venoge river near Lake Geneva - just on the northern side of the lake road between Lausanne and Morges. I've cycled by many times and it looks like a pretty big place, sorry I can't give you an exact location.
I also nearly always see people riding horses in the Boit de Jorat, the large forest north of Lausanne which Chalet a Gobet is in the middle of. I don't remember noticing riding stables nearby, but I expect there must be some somewhere near there.
