I play thursdays 12:30-2:00 Dolder Ice Rink Zurich. Run by ASVZ.

Gloves, stick, skates required (although you can rent skates, and there are extra sticks and gloves for a few ppl).

Sorry for the late reply

Right now it's 'free' as no one checked tickets. It's outdoor, but Zamboni'd ice. Pretty decent at 15 C a couple weeks ago.

Officially it's free with an asvz student card (thursday 11:30-rest of day), they're not checking now, but will eventually be 7.50 for entrance and 6.50 for rentals I believe.

Next week they play full equipment, you have to be a member of asvz for that etc.

Re: playing ice hockey in zuri

There is a post on EF that gives more info on this.

Basically there is the http://www.zep.ch/ which is a 5 league thing. I have been playing for one of the teams. Its really excellent.

If you don't fancy a formal game, then look out for "chneble" which is free ice hockey where you go on the ice with gloves, a stick and skates and play away (the equipment can also be rented)

yes, you do have to be a member to play at that time.

That being said, the membership is only for free entry. They've never asked me to pay or show membership to get in this year, and nobody checks ids once you're inside. So even without a membership you can probably play. Worst case scenario, you have to pay general admission to the skating rink.

The one side is a boarded rink where I see people playing randomly at other times. Perhaps one sunday afternoon we can organize up a pick up game.

Any interest?

Regarding the Zep league, do you know how you can actually get on a team or how one can go about determining which league is appropriate?

Let me know. That's a bit of a trip for me on a Saturday morning this week depending on how friday goes.
(Saturdays have mornings now too???!!)

But if it's good, I'll definitely make the trip.

I just found out there's a rink 5 min walk from me, Heuried, Zurich. Gonna check out their scheduling on the weekend.

Re: playing ice hockey in zuri

To practice shinny, or Chneble here, you need a black puck, sharp skates, the right (or left) stick and some flat ice.
There are 3 skating centres in Zürich : North (Oerlikon), East (Dolder), and West (Heuried), each having 2 rinks, Chneble rinks being outside; and a big pond to the South.
There are mostly 20-30 people on the half-rink in the evening, so they make teams of 5-6, and the losing team changes after 2 goals (1 when there are many players).

Re: playing ice hockey in Zurich

Nicely done IKI,

I'm going to be abusing this list come january.

Today 12:30-14:00 at Dolder we will be playing pick up hockey.
Skates, stickes and gloves required (skates can be rented, sticks and gloves are available to borrow).

Good times for all skill levels.

Re: playing ice hockey in Zurich

Ice hockey season is upon us again.

I just swing by Heuried yesterday and although they don't have ice, it looks like they are planning on perhaps starting.

According to their website, the ice should be up and running this satuday! Anyone know any better? I'm pumped if they can pull it off!
