erm...can you andermatt lovers tell me what you like about that place?
the pistes? or is it a good spot for ski/boarding tours? good offpiste region? where?
been there twice and i cant get it? this one gondola going up to the first station is a nightmare! the 2nd one up too! the t-bar lifts are way too many! so...the massive effort driving there, waiting ages to get up and then those few pistes... bollocks deluxe! whats it then?

I've only been there a couple of times; both midweek. I can imagine it being not so fun on a weekend having to wait for the trams, etc.,... I have only heard people raving about Andermatt for the off-piste. The off-piste is pretty damn good on the Gemstock and the potential for further tours is good as well. You'll need a guide or someone that has been before though to show you the way. As for the pistes, I thought that the ones on the Gemstock were pretty sucky but it was quite icy that day. The pistes on the Oberalp/Sedrun region seemed like decent intermediate runs though.
The Gemstock runs are pretty good, good descents, the off piste is one of the best´s in Switzerland
in my opinion is one of the best stations in Switzerland, and its never crowded

Personally, I find Andermatt one of the best resorts I have ever been to, with reasonable prices for S/R and lots of on/off piste possibilities. I skied in Sedrun/Oberalp only once but it did not give me much thrill despite epic train ride with Matterhornbahnen. I like going there during week days when there're less people and I can get to Gemstock more often than not. Not only black/red runs but also free-ride area with huge moguls is my kind of thing. However I won't turn down any weekends offers even if I will mange to use the cable car only once or twice. The only thing that I dislike is the infractructure of the first lift. I hate the long walk, it could have been situated closer to the main train station.
The wife and I explored a nice place yesterday. You have to pay 7 CHF to the farmers that own the lifts to get a ride up. We skinned up above the top lift and got a 1300 meter descent back to the car.
Parking was convenient. The mail lady gave us the post for the farmers that live at the first stop.
