Re: Snow sports 2009-10

Given my lack of knowledge of Swiss geography, I will have to sit this one out.

You've got to admit, I was pretty damn close, though.

It's not the Alplerseilbahn, so that's me stumped.

Titlis side of the valley, right? I can't think of any other lifts over there.
I'm sure the lift is not marked on the map, it is one of the private farmers lifts. I know of a couple of them further down the valley, but I don't think the one Patxi is using is one of the ones I'm thinking of.

Needless to say I'll be checking the 1:25,000 maps tonight!

If you look at the "Skitourenkarte STANS 245S" you will see the lifts and the recommended ascent and descent.

I am impressed that you guessed the Hahnen but not so impressed that you thought it was the Fuerenalp.

Another clue: You can also see the Titlis in the photo.
Pretty much sums up my life, right there.

The only time I've glimpsed the Fürenalp was from afar on cross country skis in driving snow. From your response I'm guessing it looks nothing like the lift in the photo.

Nah, just the fact that the Fuerenalp is pretty close to the Hahnen and this photo is obviously taken from a bit of a distance from the Hahnen.

Just let me know. Tuesdays are good days for me usually.

Edit: oh you said weekend. Weekends are kind of busy for me with kids football, ice hockey, etc.,.. Let me know in any case and maybe I can get away for a few hours.

EVening all. When do you usually have your last run of the season? Heading over late March and wondering if I'll get the chance to pull off some 180 backside fakie jumps / break my leg ?
Personally, I would head to Laax that late in the season esp if you snowboard ...
"The Clique" may have a different view

Ps great football team !! Long live Bob the Manc

Trev,

I might be interested in a trip. It's my last weekend in Switzerland

I'll keep an eye on this thread.

Dave.

Re: Snow sports 2009-10

Ok,

Looks like 2nd EF snowhound Snow&Rail day coming together for Sunday at Davos/Klosters. I'm thinking Jakobshorn this time. So far, it looks like the following:

Luminousmind08
Jacek
ToiletDuck

If interested, send me a PM with your mobile number. Same plan as last time - meet platform 5 @ 7:00 for departure @ 7:12. Latecomers can catch the 7:37 and meet us @ Landquart or at the mountain.

Will confirm final list with PM's tomorrow night.

Happy carving!

Who is going where tomorrow?

I'm thinking between Elm, Meiringen/Hasliberg, Klewenalp or Brigels/Andiast. The latter three I've never been to so its a bit of an experiment.

Cool... I might leave the stair skiing to you though. I prefer my skiing to be on snow!
