Any suggestions for good ski hills in between innsbruck and bolzano? i'll be in bolzano for new years and would LOVE to hit the slopes but just don't know how to weed thru the dozens of hills in the area. looking for good snow and not insane crowds, and a view of the dolomites would be a bonus. any ideas out there? much appreciated!!

Assuming they have some snow, of course

How many beginers/novice skiers would be interested in a trip to get a little experience on the white stuff. Not lesson in a formal way, just getting some experienced skiers to buddy up with less experienced so they can pass on tips and knowledge.... when we get some snow of course | | This user would like to thank Papa Goose for this useful post: | |

Maybe a thread nearer the time, but I am more than happy to pass on my knowledge (or considerable lack of)

Does anyone have any tips on where to ski close to Basel and which resorts are cheapest?
Also I'm off skiing to Austria for New Year (St Anton / Isghl area) but still very much a beginner. Do you know if ski schools offer lessons for people staying less than a full week. Any recommendations of which ones to go with?
Any help will be grately appreciated! |

People were asking for good priced skis and equipment.
I bought three sets of skis from this company a couple of years ago (a one man business in France) that I found on E-bay when I was in the UK. http://www.snowuniverse.com/boutique/accueil.html
I paid in UK, had the gear delivered to Switzerland and he paid me back the 19% French VAT back after paying the Swiss VAT and sending him the appropriate customs papers.

| | | Its Coming!!!
Its due to snow in Zurich on Monday night and Tuesday. The way things are looking the alps will be getting some snow next week so Ski season could be a go the weekend of the 5/6th of December.
Who ever is doing it... keep going with that snow dance.

I am in UK at the moment but live in Ticino so for skiing do:
Andermatt, Descent, Lax/Flims.
I thought all these resorts would have had snow by now?
Is the snow late or is this the recession again?

It appears that there are flutters of snow appearing in places again now, but there is Föhn forecast again for the weekend, so I reckon it will be Monday before anything happens.
Laax and Andermatt do have some runs open, but I would imagine that the snow quality is poor, and you need to stay quite high up.

Can someone please give me some info on the average price to rent a snowboard with bindings and boots? Maybe on a per day or per weekend type scale...
Also where is the place to rent? At the resort or elsewhere?
I have a friend coming in less than 2 weeks and we'd like to go riding.
