Just got the rest of my gear at the Ochsner outlet in Dietlikon. Spend 50 CH on a swiss ski card and will get 20% off all my purchases until Dec 23! Additionally, they are going to install my bindings for free, even though I did not buy the skis and bindings from them!
Needless to say, I left with a little more stuff than what I need http://www.ochsner-sport.ch/modules....&lvl1=swissski |

Alas, I finally lose my virginity on European snow. Perhaps 1/2 a cheese burger will make it a complete continental conquest... |

More snow forecast for Graubunden on Friday, they've already had a good amount over the most of the country over the last few days. The weather is looking like its going to clear up in most areas over the weekend.
Game On! Let the season commence. |

C'mon fess up 'Tash, they haven't disappeared, you kidnapped them are using them for cheeseburger pleasure until the snow comes. Enjoy Zermatt, and pictures in the new get up are required
Looking like good conditions this weekend... who's going where.

Also where is the place to rent? At the resort or elsewhere?
I have a friend coming in less than 2 weeks and we'd like to go riding. | | | | |
Don't hire at the resort!!! for the cost of hiring for a weekend there you can pretty much hire all season elsewhere.
Just hired my son a board and boots all season for 200chf from Ochsner in regensdorf

Does anyone know anything about the train station Unterterzen for skiing at Flumserberg?
We plan on taking the train to Unterterzen from Zurich and then take the Unterterzen–Flumserberg cable car up. I have a hard case for my skis (well, caz we used to fly to ski resorts in the states and hence my hard plastic protective case), and just picturing the cable car, I don't think I can bring the hard ski case up with me and store it in the lockers at Tannenboden. This means that I probably have to store my hard case at the Unterterzen train station. To be safe, just want to see if someone has similar expereince, and if there is a luggage storage room at Unterterzen and not just coin operating lockers (don't think ski case will fit in coin operating lockers...).
Anyone? or any other suggesstions?

I could be wrong, but I am not aware of any lockers at that train station.
Also: Any beginners who are looking to have an easy place to Learn, Amden is opening this weekend too and the lift at Arvenbuehl (Leistchamm) is probably the best beginner slope I have ever seen anywhere.

karina | | | | | There is supposed to be new snowfall tomorrow night and Friday through out the Central and Eastern Switzerland. It looks like Andermatt has gotten the brunt of the recent snow and the weather is looking best in that region, so that would certainly not be a bad call.
Flims/Laax, Lenzerheide, Davos etc are all looking like having some sort of cloud cover on Saturday afternoon. This might sway me towards Andermatt for Saturday, and then somewhere in Graubunden on Sunday (when it will probably be a little cloudy everywhere). I will leave my final decision making 'till as late as possible on Friday to get the most recent weather forecasts.

There are no lockers at Unterterzen, but there's a large room up in Tannenboden, where I used to drop my bag with the change shoes, as I hate walking in plastic. If you have to bring stuff with you, just take it up to Tannenboden, and ask for a locker key at the Info counter.

That's just a new experience for me, I guess
so, I think now I need to maybe buy some sort of "hooks" that will keep the two skis together while I carry them around without a case.

As far as I have ever seen and done myself, everyone just uses the bindings to hold the skis together, so there is no need to buy anything.
No case is necessary, everyone just carries the skis on their shoulders.

My skis are almost 160cm so with the case, I would need like 165 or 170cm in the gondola. Do you think it will work for the ride from Unterterzen up to Tannenboden? If not, I might need to take the skis out and carry the case seperately, but that would probably be even more of a hassle as I would then have a backpack, two pieces of the hard case, skis and boots to carry.
now I miss skiing in the states with my car or with Fedex shipping my skis to the resort ahead of time ok, I guess I need to get used carrying stuff on public transports now...
